if u played ff9, then u know that airships is the main source of transportation. they run on mist engines, which are feuled by the mist that is found on the mist continent. when zidane and his posse went to the Iifa Tree and laid out that boss that caused the mist (Scoulage?), the mist dissapeared. This brings me to my question: what happened to the airships that were in the sky at that present time? since the mist dissapeared, and they rely on mist to stay afloat, shouldn't they have fallen out of the sky, like a plane does when it runs out of feul? Could Zidane and his party have been responsible for the crash- landing of hundreds of airships? And what would Kuja think about that?

I don't remember ever seeing another airship. Or is my memory very wrong?

That is true but only when you're in the cargo ship going to Lindblum for the first time. Other than that I don't think the lovely people at Squaresoft at the time really cared about this one small continuity error

The Mist powered airships wouldn't crash, because they're lighter than air vehicles which only require Mist for propulsion, rather than lift. Naturally they would have all been grounded until the Iifa Tree revived (that's why the Lindblum Air Force and the Red Rose were able to join in the attack at the Iifa Tree at the start of disc 4, because the Mist covered the entire planet once the Tree revived.).

And it wasn't just airships which used Mist for power; much of Lindblum's technology seemed to depend on it. For instance, if you go back to the Cable Car station at South Gate in disc 3, one of the attendants next to the carriage mentions that the Cableway is out of service because the Mist has disappeared, which the Cable Car is powered by.

However, the Mist didn't totally disappear - Kuja himself mentions that Mist remains in valleys and caverns, so I guess that's how Lindblum's Aircab fleet along with the Lindblum Castle elevator and trolley were all able to keep running in the meantime - probably supplied with Mist in tanks or something. Or maybe I'm reading too much into this... :p

Hmm, that's not a good sign. I blame the HSC for completely draining my mental power
