This sounds quite interesting. While it's not perfect (how could it, as these recordings are, after all, made in mono), it's probably one of the best fake-stereo presentations possible with the source material, so your efforts here are much appreciated, markcope! As someone who is in no way an expert with audio files, I would say: well done! It's quite enjoyable (I'm listening right now to "The Naked Time", one of the best of season 1), and I dare anyone to do this better than you did!

Looking forward to season 2 and 3, of course, so if you have fun doing it, do it, please!

Thanks to Mark for his effort on season 1!

I pretty much agree with soundtrekker's opinion. The original source is mono so there is nothing lost in this very credible effort. These tracks do sound better to my ears, more "full bodied" and have become the keepers in my collection.

This is great!
I just started watching the TOS from season 1 (in chronological production order).

Loving every episode so far, so this will be a great accompaniment.

Many thanks

I'd love a stereo version of Bob Cobert's House of Dark Shadows/ Night of Dark Shadows..

So I was playing around with some cover ideas for these.

I used the RCA Victor "living stereo" banner as a starting point, and then started constructing the rest with period fonts. Then I realized that the Gold Key Trek logo would work really well for the '60s era, and then it occurred to me that we finally have a use for those Juan Ortiz art prints, and it all kind of came together.

Below are some examples of the first two episodes (the discs in the set are "volumes" on the upper right). There's a "clean" and a "worn" version. Click on links for fullsize.

Is there interest in me doing the rest? I could probably do them as individual discs as well, but I like the "episodic" version. I can probably do "library cues" as well.

Wonderful work, Stinkor! Of course I'd love to have a complete set of those! (I prefer the clean version, myself, but I like both) Library cues would be cool as well...

Your covers are a nice touch to the set. I like your idea of episodic covers, so if you feel up to doing them, then that would be a great conclusion to this "epic" venture.

Hi guys. Here's more of the covers (plus the originals reposted). I believe that completes this set!
Just a couple of design notes (I can't resist): Mostly I kept Ortiz's art and layouts, but with a few exceptions. 1) I didn't get his Corbomite Maneuver at all, so I went with a different version that I think fits; 2) I had to crop his Shore Leave--there was too much white space on the original poster (that's still my least favorite one, and if I can get a better alternative that fits the aesthetic I'd probably take it); 3) I did a lot of tweaking on The Enemy Within to more accurately reflect Kirk in the episode. The original was just a mirror image, and they're not mirrors of each other, that misses the point of the episode. I also differentiated the uniforms and added scratches to Evil Kirk's face; and 4) the Library cover is from a 1966 TV Guide. Psychedelic!

That was fast work! Thanks for taking the time to do these. They give a nice individual touch to my mono conversions. I never even "knew" I'd created an 'Orthophonic" recording...maybe "Disasterphonic" would have been more descriptive...

Thanks for these, stinkor, I like them a lot, since I'm a huge fan of the Ortiz posters. I had collected them from all over the internet (startrek.com and other places, where they were advertised), mostly in more or less medium quality. Do you know where to get them for free in the highest possible solution?

The posters or the covers?
I've just been using GIS to get them. Some are of less-than-awesome resolution.

I'm still working on these; got sidetracked a bit doing the "discs" version, for which I have a different "vintage" solution which I hope you'll all like.

Nice, looking forward to it! :)

I was speaking about the posters, but apparently your sources where the same than mine.

What is GIS?

Stinkor

GIS is "Google image search." :)

I updated my post above to include "Balance of Terror." I'm still in the middle of discs 6-10, hope to finish them tonight and will post them in that thread. When I'm done with all of them I hope to post to the custom cover art thread; maybe I'll just make a giant zip file with them all and dump them somewhere for awhile.
