Hello there my fellow film score fans.
Here is another one from my collection that I hope you will appreciate. I am not sure if it is complete as there seems to be lots of spaces where a track would go.

Wow. Very interested to hear this one. HEAT is one of my (and I'm sure many others') favorite films with a lot of great music, both in the score and the song selection.

I hope you'll consider (if you have them) sharing Batman Forever as well. It would probably have everything the LLL album has, stuff it doesn't have, and probably a lot of good alternates.

YES!!!!! Such a truly glorious share, one of my grails as well :)

I wish I could cross it off my signature, but unfortunately as PheeSees indicated, it is not complete. We are still missing:

-the full version of "Coffee Shop", because the OST cuts the cue in half (plus the alternate heard in the making-of doc)
-the cue heard when Neil enters the Airport Marquis (plus the alternate heard in the making-of doc)
-the alternate 10m1, or "Predator Diorama"
-Hanna Shoots Neil
-the cues that are unique to the previous expanded boot
among other cues

BUT, at the same time it is more music than we had before

I'll try to post a quick list tonight, but for starters: 1m1 is the first chunk of the OST track "Heat" sans guitar, and 4m3 is "Waingro Kills The Hooker". 7m7 is the cue heard when Hanna corners Cherito, and 7m7x is an unused alternate.

OK, just saw the movie yesterday and here’s my take on the tracklist. Took some guesses of course, namely the “Hanna arrives at Night Club” cue. That could very well also be something for the shootout for example, as the piece plays as some sort of overlay in the alternate of “Bank Robbery (part 4)”.

btw I LOVE the string only version of the "Main Title". Absolutely fantatsic and so beautifully melancholic. I prefer this to the original and it's a great opener for an album of the score :-)

01. Main Title (Part 1) (take 4, strings only)
02. Hanna and Justine
03. Neil Leaves Eady (revised 3)
04. Refinery Surveillance
05. Shootout (v1)
06. Neil Leaves Eady (original version?)
07. Waingro Escapes (alternate)
08. Neil at Home (tk 3)
09. Neil at Home (tk 5)
10. Hanna's Condo
11. Shootout (v2)
12. Neil at Home (tk 6)
13. Shootout (v3)
14. Shootout (v4)
15. Drive-In Shoot Out (part 1)
16. Drive-In Shoot Out (part 2 v2)
17. Forget the Money
18. Waingro Kills the Hooker
19. Neil Learns About Hanna
20. Hanna tails Neil (alternate)
21. Disabling Alarms
22. Bank Robbery (part 4)
23. Bank Robbery (part 4) (alternate)
24. Neil Tells Chris Plan
25. Neil Finds Trejo (tk 3) (unused)
25. Neil Finds Trejo (tk 4) (unused)
27. Charlene to Safe House (needs moog)
28. Charlene to Safe House
29. Hanna Leaves Justine
30. Main Titles (Part 2, sans overlays)
31. Charlene waves off Chris (part 1)
32. Charlene waves off Chris (part 2)
33. Shootout (v5)
34. Hanna and Justine in Hospital (take 2)
35. Hanna and Justine in Hospital (revised 1 take 3)
36. Hanna and Justine in Hospital (revised 1 take 5)
37. Hanna and Justine in Hospital (revised 1)
38. Predator Diorama (take 5)
39. Drive-In Shoot Out (part 2, orchestra only)
40. Neil Leaves Eady (revised)
41. Neil Leaves Eady (revised 1 p_u)
42. Neil Leaves Eady (revised 1 take 3 with cello and quartet)
43. Neil Dies (unused)
44. Hanna / Dead Hooker
45. Main Titles (Part 3, sans overlays) (Grungeoplisity)

Btw... My favorite unreleased cue (not among the sessions here as well) is the music heard when Hannah finds his step daughter in the bath tub. Almost a baroque-like pure melody, but it's EG. I even ripped that from the DVD, like ten years ago... :D So great to have these tracks. The strings-only opening music is my fav as well.

Are you sure Rumpler? I haven't seen the movie in a while so I can't remember, but I seem to recall that cue was either one of the Lisa Gerrard tracks used (Celon, La Bas (full version) or Gloradin) or the Vivaldi cue (Al Santo Sepolcro).

You're totally right! One mystery solved: I looked up the title on YouTube, and the first cue in that scene is indeed "Al Santo Sepolcro", followed by "Gloradin".

Does anyone know what recording of "Al Santo Sepolcro" was used in the film, or if Goldenthal recorded that piece? It's not listed in the end credits!

After Blackhat's truly staggering lack of success at the box office, everyone associated with it had a meltdown on par with Chernobyl. Fallout was probably as toxic. What the hell happened to the director who gave us Heat, Manhunter, & Collateral?

I don't think it's the Karajan recording; if it is, the pitch is slightly higher than the performance heard in the film, or the music editors slowed down the recording by about 2%. The pitch is closer to this live performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvbMHC-Aa4Q

As for updating my existing release, yes, I'll do. I kinda feel it as my duty now. ^^

Regarding the non-original music, I don't really care. I will of course keep the prominent ones (Moby) and film exclusives (Eno) as well as my Moby film edit. But I will not slap the whole bunch of music used (quite a lot! ^^) on a super-duper 3-hour unlistenable mega Heat release. I strongly suggest everyone to seek out the non-original pieces of interest and listen them in the context of their respective original album or original work.

If you however have any suggestions which non-Goldenthal piece I should include (and why), you are most welcome. :)

Also, the strings-only version of the opening might as well open "my" album. So, thanks for any input. :)

Man, thank you so much for the heads-up. It indeed is Vivaldi!
...listen to this timid build-up of the melody, it's so similar to Elliot's music. I had this tune in mind for years. Perfectly spotted for the bathtub scene, where it all comes to a rest and things are put into perspective.
(That being said... sinus, it would be interesting to hear this music in the context of the score, on your new album rendition. :))

Again, to see these sessions appear is unbelievable. So much better than waiting another ten years for an unlikely official release.

The slates announcements at the beginning are funny, they make it so tactile: "This is 10M5 'Waingro kills the Hooker'" ...^^

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Psn16zksQx8

There is one anecdote concerning Heat sessions: the copyists were late, or there was even a union strike and thus one day the orchestra was booked and had no music to play. Goldenthal then let them play pieces from Wagner's Ring. Would have been awesome to hear this too. :D

I would say a good 20 minutes of music is still unreleased:

-1m1 Main Title
-the film version of 1m3, part 2 Armored Van Heist
-3m4
-an alternate version of 3m11 part 1, heard in the making-of doc
-the film version of 3m11, part 2, with extra guitar overdubs and no orchestra
-the film version of "Fate Scrapes"
-6m2 Hanna & Neil Have Coffee (on the OST/promo, the cue is titled Coffee Shop and fades out before the actual ending)
-an alternate version of 6m2, heard in the making-of doc
-9m9 Neil at Waingro's Hotel (plus the alternate heard in the making-of doc)
-an alternate version of 10m1, heard in the making-of doc
-10m4 Hanna Shoots Neil
-the film version of "God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters"
-2 unused cues heard in the making-of doc, specifically one with steel cello, glass harmonica, and electric guitar

Great tracklist, thanks a lot!

In addition I'm pretty sure all those "Hanna arrives at Night Club" recordings were actually made for the bank robbery scene. Two of them constitute the latter half of cue "Agitato" on the promo.

I'm also very sure that "Forget the Money" was instead recorded for the night club suveillance scene where we now hear "Ultramarine". It has traces of "Hanna Shoots Neil" in it which would fit, since this is the first moment Hanna sees Neil.

Oh, and "Neil at Home" is actually "Entrada" from the official CD.

Great tracklist, thanks a lot!

In addition I'm pretty sure all those "Hanna arrives at Night Club" recordings were actually made for the bank robbery scene. Two of them constitute the latter half of cue "Agitato" on the promo.

Hey, good point with the robbery scene. As I mentioned I wasn't sure...

Donnor, thanks for the missing music list.
For me the only real essential cues are "Neil at Waingro's Hotel" and the unedited version for the coffee shop scene.
And a proper unedited version of the heist without the album crossfade would be cool.
The rest is a nice to have IMO.

I want all of it lol

but sure, no problem. Just hoping that more material leaks without having to wait another decade

I think Sinus' new version will do just fine :D

I'm currently wrestling with myself. ^^

There are lot of alternates of tracks we already have plus some new material which is sometimes very disappointing and without musical development.

IDK IF and HOW I will update my release .... :/

Whatever you decide...if that be to make an updated version or not is entirely on you. If you decide yes, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait ;)

I made a silly mistake with one track title. Of course "Hanna's Condo" is NOT "Entrada" from the official CD. That would be "Neil at Home". "Hanna's Condo" is instead the same as "Quietude" from the old promo. So it's:

Neil at Home (Entrada)
Hanna's Condo (Quietude)

Hope this helps.

Did a quick "Score Restore" video for 6m1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Urhri__hsc), the cue that was eventually replaced with Moby's cover of "New Dawn Fades"

Fascinating, great job! The different instrument groups really set in effectively...

Sinus, Rumpler, great to hear you're digging the string only main titles as much as I do. Sinus, would be awesome if you use that one as an openener indeed! :-)
Interestingly there are now three known version of that cue: string only (sessions), some guitar (album) and full guitar version (end titles). Very interesting...

Just wanted to update the thread with some notes about this cue:

-The full 1m1 Main Title runs around 4:12 and was never released in its entirety. It can be heard in the second half of the end credits, right after "God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters", albeit shortened. Part of it is heard on the album before segueing into an alternate version of 1m3
-The track "Heat" on the album & Sinus' edit is a medley of 1m1 and both parts of 1m3, but not their film versions
-The version of 1m1 heard in the sessions only contains the first 2:52 of the cue

I like the idea of adding the sheets to the thread's title. So people can find the threads with them (although I've been thinking on doing a sheets thread).

(although I've been thinking on doing a sheets thread).

That sounds better. Like the covers thread.

I'm only doing it with recently bumped threads like today.
I can't search all the threads and update those.

Anything 2015 and newer gets more attention.
Older threads around 2010-2013 are sketchy and riddled with thousands of posts to even try clean up.

I can sticky it, later.
I can also dupe your first post so you can keep them reserved for any future edits where initial post exceeds character limit.

What's the name of the track in the background that appears when De Niro meats his girlfriend and talking? I hear bass guitar and synthesizer but i don't think it's included in the album or am i wrong?

Wow, i think i found it, it's Terje Rypdal's "Last Nite" from his 1987 album '' Blue '' !
