Thanks Milo for this. I love the last 6 tracks of Takahashi. I still say the first CGI movie has the best soundtrack, but this one still has some great moments. I guess we will never get anything so freaking epic as "Password".
"Engine ignition began" and "Thanks for droppin' in" are great yeah, but so near the one above I mentioned.

I feel like watching the movie again... I want another movie... NOW!!

Oh yeah the first CG appleseed is still unbeatable. The movie and the ost. So many good tracks on it. Some top favorites were "Underdog" from end of disc 1 and "New Age" from end of disc 2.

I haven't listened to Disc 2 of this new OST yet :P
Will get to it this weekend. Also will try to do scans for vgmdb this weekend too.

Oh, now I feel like watching 2004 Appleseed all over again. Or at least the opening sequence of it, which was absolutely marvelous. I heard they spent a year and half just preparing, finalizing and perfecting that first scene.

Milo, I love you but I was going through VGMDB and I was going to answer you there, but better here. to be sure you can see this. :)

In fact... this movie was based on a manga, which was inspired by the original source material. It figures because it goes way far from the criticism/conscientious Masamune gives in Appleseed.
First Appleseed Movie, missed some points, but hey, it was something new, I was not expecting some hardcore follow up or something. And as new and stand alone plot, it still delivered some points Masamune criticizes in his manga about mankind. EX Machina, was more straight to that point.
This... I wonder of the person who wrote the manga, by inspiration of the original universe, did actually get the "Big Picture" of Appleseed stands for.
This movie was not that good... and it had some major stupid talk-lines... that are really stupid. I wonder ... why Shinji Aramaki did not do something else with this? I still live in pain that Appleseed Genesis, the TV show taking place after Ex Machina, was canceled due to juridic issues. AT the time, Shinji said it didn't care anymore for Appleseed "Fuck it! Fuck y'all!". I wished he could get a better scrip-writer (he should get Chiaki Konaka, the best cyberpunk fiction writer in Japan), and make a really third movie. good one.

Movie is not sooooo great, and I agree that it has issues. But damn, the visuals are amazing. Two Horns is maybe what I liked the most in all of his face conception.
But after hearing the soundtrack of this one... Ex Machina has a better soundtrack, and I did disliked it.... till this one made me like it .
I feel that... there is so much missing things in this Tetsuya Takahashi compositions... like... he did it just because paycheck?
I felt much more with his music in the last installments. Tetsuya and the other composers give me nothing to root for.
"You have to make a choice" is the only track with main cue of Appleseed (movie 1, and then you have in movie 2 in "Synchronicity" track)
"Engine ignition began" at some point tried to sound "Password" (from the first movie.), and I felt like, "oh crap!!! 0.0 heeere it comes"... but no. it does not pay off "Synchronicity" from EX Machina when that comes... it comes in full force, I was utter surrender to it and the scene where it played. In ALpha, ... meh.
"You gave us purpose" gives a very little hint of another cue from movie 1, but it is such secs of duration, that I ask "what was the point then?"
"I was made for this mission", "You gave me hope", also has the epic cue in there, and these might be the only track in this score, that I actually feel something. Maybe because of how much I love that cue.
Now.. I am not saying the soundtrack is bad because it does not have "classic cues" from the first movie. That is not even the point. I just feel that... this could have been so much better. What I am sad, is that... nothing is memorable in here. There is nothing from this score that made me kept remembering the movie while I was at work all week.
The first movie brainwashed me so much, that I went months with the soundtrack in my head.
