"God Damn it, I can't believe it, I made it?"
"Don't get too hysterical, rehearsals start in two weeks!"

This powerful FAME style musical is full of action, with lively choreography and exhilerating songs and
is a compelling story of four talented young singers/dancers, who after finding success in their home towns,
decide to fulfil their lifelong ambitions and try their luck on Broadway.
On arrival in New York, the four become aware for the first time of the difficulties they must endure to
become stars whilst learning to overcome the many problems of living and working in "the Big Apple" and
undergoing tough ambitions to find which, if any of them, can "see their name shining in lights on Broadway".

THE SOUNDTRACK

This is one of those films, either you hate it, or you love it.
Unfortunately the film has never been released on home video.
It made it's initial run in 1981 on HBO and later on CineMax.

The trailer boasts that a Soundtrack was available on Columbia records, but it was never released.
The late Joseph Brooks is creditted for composing all the music and lyrics for the movie including the score.
I did manage to find a rare promotional 45 RPM with 2 tracks by Rex Smith.
"Rhythm", a slow melancholy tune and "Woman", a gorgeous ballad are included in this compilation.

In addition, on a number of tracks, an unknown lady singer belts out different versions of "Rhythm",
"Headin' For Broadway" and the disco tune "Bright Lights".

The only source I had available for the music was a VHSrip of the movie, which I recorded back in 1980.
Some of these tracks do contain some talking, FX and a little hiss due to the nature of VHS analogue audio.
But the Hit Songs will have you humming and whistling long after you've seen the film.
Enjoy!

Just watched it, too. They sure tried to benefit from the "A Chorus Line" hype (while the show was running on Broadway, but before the movie was made). Much more low-scale, but very entertaining. Thanks!
