i know a lot of you will probably laugh at me, but this is my first go around playing FFVIII...

anyway - i guess i must not have grasped the whole "junction" thing, bc altho my squall is level 49 - he's hitting for like...250... and i wont even talk about how bad zell is...

so, my characters rnt strong and i cant beat Adel bc of it. it's so pathedic - any help on how to maybe junction them better - or have any tricks? she kills me in like 5 moves.

i dont know how i made it this far with such weak characters w/such low HP.

my highest is zell w/3200 hp about.

any help would be greatly appriciated.

Well adel isnt that tough, a few strong attacks and shes beaten in no time.

If you want higher hp, Junction unto your HP-J tornado magic, this boosts up your HP by like 1000+ or so and its very very handy. To get tornado magic, you can use the Pandemona card and get 100 windmills to then refine into tornado magic. If not you pretty much stuck without this since your fighting adel now..

With Hit .. I would say go with the strongest magic you have, thundaga is the best for me as i see it. But you should make sure all your characters have their junctions right.. and do you have tonberry? because then you can use his junk shop to upgrade weapons.

But I dont know what else to say, If you dont have the proper attire, Adel can be pretty tough, considering your up in space at the moment and not down on the planet where you can you level up easier...

edit I wouldnt use Zell, I mean, hes ok, but I didnt like him to much as a fighting character. Especially since Zell isnt any good unless you have him junctioned right. I would have Quistis and Selphie instead. Make sure to have Aura or get them to their limit breaks, Quistis casts 'mighty guard' and try finding Selphies 'The End' magic or 'Wall'

can you believe i had selphies 'The End' magic in disk 1 it was awesome! :D but enough bout that..

so yea, that would end the battle quicker, since you have your characters on better defense.

You really need to go through all the tutorials. They'll learn you what you need to know

Do you have all the GF's and what magics do you have, Because if you don't have strong magics (and lots of them) and don't have most of the GF's then your best bet is just reset the game and starting over because unless you have Tonberry Gf there's no way to even buy any items on disc 4.

I had Quistis use Homing Laser it is GREAT takes off at least 7000+, with me it took 9999 damage off her each time. Don't forget to cast Aura on her so she can use it often, and have someone else to heal.

If you weren't lucky enough to aquire the item that teaches Quistis Homing Laser when you were in the Lunatic Pandora, your best bet would be to use Squall's Limit Breaks. If not, train your characters some more.

I just want to add: if you're using any strategy that attacks all targets, including Squall's limit breaks, be careful. If you end up killing Rinoa, it's Game Over. I think the only exception is if you manage to kill Adel in the same set of attacks that would also kill Rinoa, but I haven't tried this myself. Remember that Rinoa is junctioned to Adel, so cast Regen on her, and cure her if needed.

I wouldn't use GF's...beacause if they were strong they would probably kill Rinoa too, so stick with homing laser, aura and healing and you shouold have it done in no time.

Edna: Aura on Squall and then unleash his Renzokuken and pray for Lion Heart.

Zulu: Shell and Regen on Rinoa.

Edna: I've never once died against her, just use Renzokuken.

the key is to just use your limit breaks, heal rinoa, and heal yourself. that's basically it. it's pointless to use your gfs, you'll hit rinoa. she was quite easy for me both times i played the game.

...okay, i'm lying. the first time, my character's levels were so unbelievably low. but when i used my limit breaks more often, i killed her.

i was jumping for joy the first time. the second time kind of went like this.

squall: [uses lionheart]
adel: [dies from it][starts writhing like she's having an orgasm]
me: ooookay, neeeext, please...

Zulu: That's pretty low, all of our characters were on level 100.

A million dollars says that you went through the entire game up until this point by using nothing but GF's in battle? I did that my first time through, for some reason I felt rushed while playing this game. In any case, I used all GF's and got to Adel and couldn't win until I finally beat her after about 76 tries, so I actually said screw it and put disc one in and started from scratch and really took my time with junctioning and such. I got to the same point in a single weekend and enjoyed it much more and had absolutly no trouble defeating Adel. If you have done what I did I suggest you load an earlier save where you can do some mad revamping of your junctioning and leveling up.
