Rap is my least favorite genre. Hell I don't even consider it music. The problem I have with it is that it's too sterotypical, making a false image that all people living in urban areas think or acts the way the rappers act in thier videos. Thus making some little kids act like there "ballers" or "thugs" when really their acting like dumbasses.

Other than that I hate it for the rappers(especially that Lil Jon guy, WHHHHHHHHAT! heaad explodes), and the shit they talk about (and I heard the white t-shirt and I swear to god my brain cells were almost fired)

I only like some rap when there making a point.

The lyrics might mean something but I simply cannot get into it. As far as I know there's sort of a story behind R&B, Rap, etc but whatever. I don't like the music on it's own, the video clips are close to a porn movie (without exaggarating), I dunno it's crap. ;x

I agree with that crystal sword. There is actually christian rap and rap about actual love. Not how much they wanted to f the girl they were inlove with(although there are many rap songs that do) I just loath it altogether.

Pretty damn good stuff, surprising as it is.

If you're bored, and want to risk the RIAA or whatever, download "La Vie Est Belle" or "Guerilla" by the aformentioned artist.

I can't stand how when an artist outside the rap genre sings about money, women, etc. it's perfectly fine, no matter how demoralizing, womanizing, or just plain idiotic is. But when a rapper does it, it becomes something to ridicule. I especially hate it when people attempt to compare next to meaningless, incoherent rock lyrics to mainstream rap and then say rap is pointless.

That said, I prefer most other genres over rap, but I like rap as well.

Most rappers have problems with coherence. It's really not hard to manufacture a verse when you always rap about the same thing, either.

I like the Numb/Encore thing that Jay Z and Linkin Park have got going on at the moment, and I think a little rap is ok, but too much is a really bad thing. However, even bands like Keane are influenced by rap music. On their next album, Tim has taken inspiration for one of his songs from Eminem's Lose Yourself, so I think rap is a mixture of good and bad really.

Well I respect Linkin Park as a band, and they got's some pretty good songs on thier albums (Hell I don't mind the rapper they got in the group). Although their a little overboard with the angst. But thier way more talented than say "50 Cent" or "Lil Jon" and all those other a-holes

I am big fan of rap, no denying that. I'll listen to mainstream artists as well as local or underground rappers, whatever is good in my eyes. Rappers like 50 Cent, he does make some catchy singles, but I prefer songs where he really made a song about something serious rather than his usual stuff. Many hate him because of his mainstream stuff, if you get past that you'll find he does have some good stuff. ex. "Many Men" , "Ski Mask Way , "Hate It or Love It."

If you read the thread, I've probably been one of the biggest supporters of rap. Seeing as I listen to a widely criticized genre of electronic dance music, I know where the "rap supporters" are coming from. I think hatred of anyone because of their taste in music is silly. Also, most of the arguements that people give against rap are silly and unfounded. I don't listen to rap, but I'm not gonna say unfounded things such as "RETARDS ATTEMPTING POETRY LOLOLOL", because that would be immature. All music takes talent to produce, and I believe the artists should be respected in that manner. Blinding criticizing any music genre without listening to it is also silly, which is what a good portion of people in this thread were doing.

no, what you don't understand is that rock is a form of hip hop and vice versa. Hendrix was the prototype hard rock artist with the big hair and fanatical fans. Even elvis ripped his style off of a Black southern club, listening from the outside. Rock/Hip Hop Both stem from the same culture and people(americans mainly shaped the sound), look back in history don't listen to me. It's the race of people doing the music that allows it to be labeled in the 1st place, this shouldn't be; and as i've said b4 a lot of you don't know TRUE hip hop. You let MTV shape your view on this form of music. Rap(Rapping) is the act of an emcee on a mic, there is mad Hip Hop that doesn't even involve lyrics. I bet the majority of you in here are Euro cats who's parents were raised off the beatles, if not that asiatics who also don't know what the hell's going on in America to put an end to Hip Hop's bastard evil Damion like son "Rap". Only a select few, mainly hip hop's original patriarchs are fighting this; I am also a rebel. This art has been raped and molested more so in this latter part of our generation than any other time. Also, the maine inheriters of this art (black males) are finantialy at rock bottom here so it's natural in a sick sad way that they would sell thier heritage away to big buisness for the sake of profit. I for one will not do so and am a superior DJ because of this. i tell you kids there is hip hop out there you wouldn't believe and i'd bet a pile of jagged toe nails and a million dollars you'd buy every one of my fabulous(not the rapper) mix tapes!


you say that rap is crap? maybe it is. or maybe, you're just jealous that they can do somthin you can't. rappers rapping about bitches, cars, and money is about as common as a pop sionger singing about the girl/boy next door who they can't get until the end of the video. not only are rap lyrics thoughtful and often times funny, but the metaphors, similies, etc that are found in rap are second to none. me and my boy Seiferoth understand rap and how hard it is. you call it crap? why is this? what's ur favorite type of music? i'll bet you my left nut(which i'm sure you'll sleep with it in ur mouth) that it's punk rock, country, or death metal.

why do you have such a problem with it being called rap. that's what it is. hip-hop is a from of music, and rap is certain hip-hop style. it's rap, get over it. nobody raped hip-hop, they changed it. hip-hop still exists. wtf is your problem? you sit there and defend it up and down and then turn right around and attack it.
