I didn't name them aside from "1000 - start credits" and "YEAR0 - smooth hector". They didn't have internal names, for some reason and were listed under YEAR0....

Anyways, not sure what the difference is between this and the original soundtrack, but I'm uploading it regardless. If Double Fine releases an official soundtrack, I suppose I'll take this down.

Enjoy!!

EDIT: A better version was posted here: http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/grim-fandango-remastered-flac-rip-extracted-game-185671/#post2891349

Is there a chance you could do the same for original Grim Fandango?
I don't think there is a FLAC version of it released anywhere (which seems crazy) but that one and Escape from Monkey Island weren't available in lossless formats.
Official Soundtrack to Grim Fandango contained only selection of tracks from the game.

I actually don't have the original Grim Fandango. It's reay easy to extract the files, though. If you want me to, I can...*ahem*, borrow, the game and extract the music from it.

Thanks for this!

Is there any way for you to get the re-orchestrated version of the opening theme? Also, some of the tracks have a lot of background environment noise that kinda washes out the music, particularly Nuevo Marrow (which you called lemans lobby). Is there any way to get rid of that, or are the raw files simply like that?

That's...not the re-orchestrated version of the theme? And, yeah, aside from the two tracks I named, those are the direct file rips and names. If you want a better rip, you'll have to contact Double Fine. Which I'm honestly surprised DF hasn't released a real OST....

Yeah, the opening and credits themes are the ones featured in the original game, not the remastered versions strangely enough. I don't remember ever hearing those originals in the remaster, which makes you wonder why they're in the game's files. You can hear the remastered opening in this video at around 11:35:

Here's a video of the credits:

If you can't find them, then it must be that the music tracks are a part of pre-rendered cinematics, and are not running in real time. Like you said, its probably up to Double Fine at this point.

Oh, undoubtedly. In fact, since these are all the original music files...I wonder if there's any difference whatsoever between the original soundtrack and the remastered one? I mean, are the intro and the ending the only songs redone?

Many of the old tracks that used electronic sounds have been redone with a live orchestra. In the original game, only some of the tracks used live instruments.

Hm, interesting. So I guess they didn't bother to remove the opening music then.

I extracted the files myself from the PC version and uploaded them to YouTube with nice track names and stuff. A lot of the music does seem identical to the original game, some pieces have ambience over them, and in others the reorchestration is super subtle.

The opening credits begin my playlist, though. You can listen to it here. (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9NKeEemrlzMAvv9LS2n2UNzUZve9XA12)

Thank you for your work!
Is there any need for the newly released Grim Fandango Remastered Soundtrack from Steam if we have this rip?

Well, I ASSUME it's in higher quality. And I know Companeros (Festival Music 1) has the sound effect ambience built in ingame, but is lacking the sound effect on the CD.

Plus, you support the author. :)

Also, the official release has some of the cutscene music, which you can't get from any of the gamerips. You can get the cutscene audio, but it's going to have voices and sound effects. If that's what you want, though, more power to you.
