Hi

So, a UK company released DVD's of The Legend of the Lone Ranger and The Tamarind Seed today and both contain substantial suites of John Barry's music - The Lone Ranger is 57 minutes and the Tamarind Seed is around 49 minutes. There are also song suites from both films.

My technical prowess extends only to ripping them via my video editing software at the best MP3 rate option. I couldn't begin to edit them down into tracks or anything

However

John Barry Lone Ranger and Tamarind Seed (http://uploaded.net/file/f6nkzgiz)

Here they are - enjoy and if anyone wants to try edit them please, of course, feel free.

Stunning! Thank you so much! Makes my day.

You're welcome - they are both gorgeous suites of music. The main reason I had for buying the DVD's to be honest.

Fantastic effort....thank you for doing this for all of us on this board! A very generous effort!
Could you tell me what the quality of the Lone Ranger video is? I'm wondering if it's been taken from the same source as the German bluray which is lovely in my opinion. I know the film was shot with a lot of soft focus...wondering what this print looks like...

Hi,

They just arrived yesterday morning - so I haven't had a chance to watch the Lone Ranger yet - to be honest if my laptop was a higher spec I'd have bought the blu-ray edition but I wanted to rip the music itself and my laptop is old enough to collapse at the mention of blu-ray :) Once I have had a chance to watch it I'll let you know though

Thanks for this; though, for editing purposes, it's unfortunate these tracks weren't ripped as WAV or FLAC.

I could probably rip FLAC versions - I'm an audio luddite so am a wee bit lost - and there are a few options and I wouldn't be sure which one would be best. But if anyone wants to give me some advice I can certainly do lossless versions.

what I use to rip dvds is

DVDfab - to remove copyguard dvdfab.cn (http://www.dvdfab.cn/download.htm)

DGIndex - to extract the original audio softpedia.com (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Codec-Packs-Video-Codecs/DGMPGDec-MPEG-Decoding-Package.shtml)

at that point you have ".ac3"s

I am not sure what is a nice software to convert .ac3 to .flac (I use the free version of WavePad to make ".wav"s but that can't do .flac)

If you need info on how to use these, I can try to put together some better instructions

Has anyone been able to successfully download this? uploaded.net seems to be demanding a premium account due to the size of the file.

I downloaded it...but I do have a premium account for a month. Even with that, a very slow download...and you should see how long some movies took to download. I will NOT be using them again..........

If it's not too much to ask, andcon could you possibly re-up it to a site with no minimum for non-premiums users? Thank you in advance!

Am working on splitting Ranger into its tracks, naming them, doing artwork and will upload. Big job...pain in the butt...BUT A BEAUTIFUL SCORE! Narrative bits and songs will be placed at the end of the disc!....if anyone else is doing this and is nearly done, let me know...no need for double work on this. Or if someone has track titles and times done, please post...it will help a great deal with editing and artwork.

Update....track splitting pretty much done. A few to double check.

Overall, sound is excellent I feel. God knows if this is stems or actual sessions or what but quite impressive.

A little hiss noticeable BUT I am not tampering with this. It is not all over every track nor is it excessive which makes me wonder where this came from. Different sources maybe......

Anyway, tracks to be named now so I have to go through the film and make notes. Probably another week.....is this the type of stuff the labels do? If so...and I know it is....we owe them all!
