This has been bugging me for awhile.

In FFX-2 there is a kid call Shinra at sum point in the game i can remember where exactly he talks about the farplane having a huge amount of energy and that the farplane is like the planets life energy and that it would take a 1000 years to find a way to harness that energy.
Ok you with me so far.
Moving on to FF7. In FF7 there is a company called Shinra and they make energy from the planet.
Did anyelse notice this? Is there a connection? Or am I just reading to much into this?

Well, apart fromt he fact that there's a wiz-kid named Shinra and Shuuyin's CGI model has a face identical to Cloud's in AC... no, not really.

I think the Shinra thing was just something SquareEnix put in for gamers who played FFVII to remember back to. The farplane/planet thing is just a bit far-fetched.

i think Square put in a lot of connections like that

in ff9 as Zidane walks into the evil forest the Tantalus play the music to Rufus' welcoming ceremony. also in FF9 Zidane walks into a weapons shop and says something like ' I heard ofa guy with a sword like that ( or something)'

I haven't played FF10 yet so i can't comment on any conections between 10 & 7 but it wouldn't surprise me in the least

I dont think there was any relationship BTW FFx2 and FF7 in my opinion that is.I just think Shinra was just put there as his name maybe 2 remind gamers bout FF7.Alot of repition of names happened in most of the games like d repitiion of Biggs and Wedge in FF8 4rm FF7.So i dont think its anything special

Yeah you guys are right. I think they might have put that in just so people would have something to think about.

i've heard rumors that the shinra co. was named after x-'s shinra. not sure if that's true, though.

Unless you people havent noticed, there is some continuity between every FF. For example Cid, Wedge and Biggs appear in every game:
Cid Wedge & Biggs
FF7 = Airship Owner Members of AVALANCHE
FF8 = Headmaster Galbadian Soldiers
FF9 = Regent of Lindblum Members of Squad Beatrix
FF10 = Airship owner Blitzball Players
FF10-2 = Yuna's Uncle Blitzball Platers

Yeh, it always starts relatively small, like finding spheres, blowing up Mako reactors and training for SeeD missions but it always ends up with the fate of the world at stake

Dudes.

There's no links between FFVII and X-2, just like there's no basis that (for example) Sephiroth was actually Jenova. Fanboys and girls looking into things too deeply seem to find a connection, make something up and present it as proof.

And every RPG story ever features saving the world. It's nothing unique.

Yeah, probably ALL RPGs end with the fate of the planet in the hands of a handful of people. But the FF storylines are unbeatable, 'specially VII's. Sublime. Best game to ever exist. Period.

I agree. Let us all bow down to the mightiness of FFVII! lol! ^^! I think there is a link but Square have just made it subtle

Lol! That's good! As another person said, a few characters with famous names (Cid, Biggs, Wedge) have appeared in many.
Cid first appeared in FFII, don't know about Biggs and Wedge, but they were definitely in FFVI, at the start.
Hail the almighty FFVII! We are not worthy! We are not worthy!

Actually, Star Ocean 2: The Second Story was far better, cos over 80 different endings ranging from one person saving the world, to the person destroying the world, to a whole team of folks saving or destroying the world.

Valkyrie Profile also pwned FF7, kthxbye.

Hmm...some connection? I think its up to one of the square staff, Nojima. He then stated that they were connected but that was his ideal only. So maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Although, like some stated, FFs are pretty similar.
