Genre: Soundtrack | Quality: MP3 320kbps | Size: 241.1 MB

Jupiter Ascending Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

About the film

Jupiter Jones was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine, a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along - her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

About the composer

Michael Giacchino is an American composer of scores for movies, television series and video games.
He is best known for his scores for the television series Lost, Alias and Fringe, games such as the Medal of Honor and the Call of Duty series, and films such as Mission: Impossible III, The Incredibles, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, Ratatouille, Up, Super 8, Cars 2, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Clovie is looking forward to seeing it. Me, not so much. It just looks awful. Channing Tatum looks like a dog. Eddie Redmayne sounds like an asthma victim on his death bed. I can't seem to get past those

My version: Warner Bros. has moved release date to far from the past year and now they have no decent idea where to place this film in their schedule. So they had to decide how they actually want to lose their money: by puting just one film that never had all the guarantees to be succesful in this dead season, or start to harm ther other products by changing their release dates for Jupiter Ascending.

Mission Impossible got pushed ahead of release date. The same with another movie recently.
I'd rather a movie get pushed back than forward.

Ghost Protocol was pretty good. Just wish the BD got an IMAX release.

The only rationale that comes to mind is the Sundance audience might be more receptive to a science fiction film that does not include the words Star Wars or Star Trek in the title.

Sundance isn't the market for it, it's like showing Birdman or Interstellar to 5 year olds, or putting Transformers on Cannes (which I believe did happen with DOTM, but didn't see reactions to it).

The target audience is teenagers and young adults really, maybe a few adults who like action adventure, it's a simple blockbuster to pass the time and see great effects, that's all. The practical effects seem interesting too, the flying sequences are not CGI doubles, they are actual stunt doubles with a new safeguard mechanism.

Sundance isn't the market for things like this, Theory of Everything for example, that's better for Sundance. Who knows who did that.

I really hope to get to see it, since 50 Shades is coming out the week after it and the cinemas will be crowded with annoying 12 year olds.

Exactly, which is why I asked why it was even shown at Sundance to begin with. It's as if the Wachowskis knew it shouldn't have been shown and yet it was. Curious, no?

This is indeed a pleasing soundtrack sampler.

I had to open up foobar2000 just to look at what I was listening to.

I have to say this is a really good Giacchino score.
If only he would throw this much enthusiasm of a space opera into his Star Trek scores.
Mind you, I like his ST scores, but they could use a lot more variety and theater-like qualities to them.

I feel like I'm sitting in a space opera house waiting for Diva Plavalaguna to show up in the second act and perform for us all.

I guess Don Davis was at the corner store getting smokes and a six pack when the Wachowskis called.

He's been at the corner store for a decade now.

He has done nothing major since the Matrix franchise.
He's done some stuff, but nothing well-known.
Don Davis - IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0204485)

"CR: Enter the Matrix (Video Game) 2009" seems to be an international release of the game for Japan? (message board)

The Matrix Online (Video Game) 2005 is the last well-known game.

The other movies and videos he did are like... nothing.

Personally, I can't see Speed Racer done with just Don Davis alone. He'd have to work with other artists just like with Reloaded and Revolutions.
Giacchino did the best job he can with Speed Racer.

I've been waiting for it since I finished Breaking Bad in December 2013. And then AMC had to go and delay it's November premiere to February. So needless to say, I cannot wait. February 8th is going to be a big night: Saul premieres and TWD returns after its 2 month hiatus

I agree, I don't know where all the hate for Speed Racer comes from. That film was did what to me seemed like an impossible task. Take a classic cartoon and translate it directly to the big screen and make it accessible to all audiences. I think, just like with John Carter and The Lone Ranger, bad marketing and stupid decisions from studio higher ups sabotaged it from the get go.

On task, I have never listened to a Giacchino Score that I haven't liked, Including The Lost World, which is basically all synth.

Killgrave
02-01-2015, 05:33 PM
Indeed, bad marketing helped sink John Carter but the film looked like Star Wars Episodes one through three, never a good comparison, had a weak villain - quick name him - and its plot amounted to Save the Desert. For most viewers, unless you are a part or full time ecologist, if your planet's a desert, the war is already lost.

The Lone Ranger was a clusterf#ck. Having Depp play a Native American is like having Schwarzenegger play a member of British royalty. That and his Tonto wandered the entire movie as though he was in the midst of a peyote induced hallucination. And almost no one wants the Lone Ranger channeling Nathan Lane from the Birdcage.

I love Speed Racer, minus the scenes of the kid and the monkey that are just too annoying for my taste. The score is perfect, though.
There are two times that Giacchino has "disappointed" me: Let Me In and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Both are great scores on their own right, but they just don't measure to Let the Right One In and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

I've been becoming a fan of Giacchino's epic orchestral scores (Star Trek, John Carter, Super 8) and now I'm hoping this thing will be bloody brilliant too! PLEASE BE BLOODY BRILLIANT!! Cant wait to see this colorful epic space opera of a movie. I know errbody will hate it and it will be a flop but I'll love it forever n forever.

Two words:

Speed Racer

Speed Racer is brilliant. Colorful, imaginative, it's the perfect antithesis to the grim, gritty, and drab modern blockbuster. It's also breathtakingly edited and paced, not to mention just plain fun, as well as a nice treatise on modern corporate greed and corruption. Seven years on, it remains way ahead of its time but it'll get its due. Haters gonna hate. Until then: go, Speed Racer, go!

Thanks! Did you know Giacchino score was completely edited into the movie? He wrote everything without the picture. We live in a strange period for film music my friends!

Actually, not so strange. Ennio Morricone wrote the music for Leone's Man With No Name trilogy before Leone shot one frame of film. Leone would set up speakers and play Morricone's music to set the mood for certain scenes. More recently, James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy, had Brian Tyler, the film's composer, write the music before he shot the film. And like Leone, Gunn played the music on set as well.

Pre-writing the music is not the usual practice but it's not unusual either.

I think this score proves beyond a doubt that, when the time comes for someone else to take over Star Wars, Giacchino should be the man. Anyone else agree?

Thanks again for the share. :D

I think the main reason why this score soars above his other works, is that it was recorded at Abbey Road studios. More than once I felt pulled back to Coruscant chases.

Hmmm, it makes me wonder. unclear the future is...

Well Desplat is doing the first spin-off film. I gotta say I'm disappointed. Not because I dislike Desplat, I just think Giacchino is a better choice. Maybe he'll do the next spin-off.
