are there any songs or cds that you love so much that you put them on repeat for a long time? if so, what and how long and why?

do other people do this and get on your nerves?

Every so often I find one song that I listen to constantly, as at that one moment it feels great to listen to.
Most recently, these have been Black Eyed Peas - Anxiety and Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus.

I do this all the time... people arund me get so mad. I do it to any song I really like, and then after repeating it many times, I'll repeat a different one. Why? Because if I love the song enough, I can't get enough of it! When other people do it though, I get annoyed, unless it's a song I like. Another thing I do, is skip right in the middle of songs, it drives other people crazy! I like to listen to the intros, and I like to skip around sometimes.

At the moment, it's Līve's "Run to the Water". I love that song so much I could listen to it endlessly. Audioslave's "Like a Stone" and "All Is Full Of Love" by Bjrk are also repeated songs.

There have been some songs that I've done that with. Including:

"I Wanna Be Happy" by The Queers, way back when I was first getting into them and that was my favorite song.
"Next Time" by Dirt Bike Annie.
"We Did it All For Don" by Against Me. They used to be so fucking good before they got more interested in cash than anarchy.
"Anchor" by Osker.
"Wrong Side of the Tracks" by Strung Out.
And of course, "Hey Suburbia" by Screeching Weasel, which is quite possibly the best song to sing along with ever. You really must try it sometime.

Līve's "Run to the Water"

Wow. Total nostalgia moment. Way back when that album first came out over here in America, I was really into Live, and that was my favorite song. It was really good. I'm not particularly into Live anymore but I still remember that one song as being amazing.

I'd probably agree with you there. It'd be in my top ten, if I were ever inclined to make one.

For me, there's:

"Orange Barrel", by Fingers Cut Megamachine - The first time I ever heard this song it just hit me with a wave of happiness which I don't think I've ever had in a song before. I listened to it waaay too much on repeat after that and had to stop for a while before I overdid it.

Ramones - "Daytime Dilemma" - Again, this song just has something in it, particularly its riff, that just gets to me. Plus it has memories associated with it.

And just about any Weakerthans song or album because I listen to them too much.

Other than that, I actually don't do the repeat thing a huge amount, my tastes vary somewhat by the hour. I don't really do it with other people listening either, because no one here really shares my tastes. My friend does it with the Red Hot Chili Peppers; they're almost all he listens to. It is kind of annoying for other people.

For some reason, everytime I listen to Blondie - Dennis, I ususally listen to it about 4 or 5 times in a row. It's sort of a cute song... I guess.

And if a song is a really neat, I'll repeat a few times, but ususally I avoid this and just wait for it to... occur. Anticipating it is half the fun. I tend to listen to new albums obsessively (unless they're absolute rubbish), so repeating is sort of applicable.

Lacuna Coil - Stars I had it on repeat for about half an hour, I really like this song for my own reason.

I think the "why" normally amounts to, "Because I really really like the song/album."

There's not that much you can say about it. =\
