I'm not trolling. This is really true. There are annoying noises in Final Fantasy VIII OST.

I bought the tracks from iTunes and I got to hear annoying noises in Final Fantasy VIII OST tracks.

I've compared Blue Fields PSF (Portable Sound Format) version with Blue Fields OST version. There are annoying noises in every part like 0:01 to 0:02 from the right side in OST version while there is no such thing in PSF version.

And then there is noise in Love Grows song which is in 0:51 part. The noise come from the right side.

I listened to it carefully using headphones and it's real. I'm not lying about it.

If you don't have the OST you could hear it on Youtube.

It makes me feel depressed because I love FFVIII OST. :(

Final Fantasy VIII OST quality is horrendous.

The music is loveable, but the quality of the OST version is just really bad.

I believe there are many reasons why the OST quality is horrendous, but I will give a list of some of it:
- The Landing volume is too quiet compared to other songs
- songs loudness are uneven, I need to change volume from track to track (like from The Landing to Martial Law)
- there are constant noise in songs (just listen to Drifting, The Loser, Blue Fields, Roses and Wine for example)
- there are annoying noises in songs (just listen to Cactus Jack (Galbadia Anthem) the noise is pretty clear coming from the left side on this one, The Stage is Set (after 1:10))

This really makes me sad because I love FFVIII music.

What should I do?

And sorry for my bad English.

Aren't the noises in Cactus Jack clear enough? You could hear it right from the start.

Why do nobody notice it after all these years?

Why do it seems that it is just me who had these problems about FFVIII OST? :(

I'm so sad because I love FFVIII music so much.

Please listen to Love Grows from 0:50 to 0:52. You could really hear annoying noise coming from the right side. It's really noticeable if the volume is loud enough.

Update: the noise from 0:41 to 0:43 is annoying too. It's from the left.

Come on. Why do people seems like can't notice the noise?

Use this as a starting point to start believing that FFVIII OST is problematic.

The bold: forget about it. It's not a problem anymore. Now I think it's not noise at all I think.

Maybe you should listen to the actual CD instead of horribly compressed MP3s?

I have the actual CDs and I'm not hearing anything beyond some minor compression artifacts. And before you go "But that shouldn't be there!" remember, these are 1998 MIDI samples that were designed to fit in less than 512KB of RAM we're listening to. They were most certainly compressed.

The only minor annoyance I hear on some tracks is a slight hum at the start, but it goes away within less than a second, and that would be consistent with recording from real Playstation hardware.

This is what you get when you download a copy from anything but a official site or can't be bothered to get the OST officially/legally. Go and buy the OST... solve your problems.

Or you could just find a YouTube video of it (like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBWCTYE3Dcc)) and then convert it to MP3 yourself with a site like this (http://www.vidtomp3.com/).

I have to concur; I heard them too.

The soundtrack is the annoying noise. Sounds like something from a shitty bargain bin Gameboy cart.
