I don't imagine many of you are too familiar with the film, and honestly it was something I'd been a part of on and off for years. I worked on producing the SFX and the score for the film. We all learned a lot producing the film (which if you've never done, never worked on in some capacity, you have no idea the surprises that can arise and the things that just don't work out or happen the way you plan them to).

That being said, I never really got around to releasing any sort of Album for the film. When the 20th Anniversary was approaching for Jurassic Park, we considered looking back at the film to re-release it but no one had the full time to give to the film.

As such, I'd been talking to a few people lately about releasing an album for the film and here are the fruits of that.

The film clocked in close to an hour when I began scoring it. Many scenes got cut down or redone or dropped entirely (there are at least 2 such deleted sequences for the film). I also scored a few of the trailers (except the original teaser).

The technology and programs I had to write and produce the music changed and some cues and tracks I wrote on my initial program, due to time, never got re-recorded in the newer program but I think still hold up well together.

I've created a sort of "album assembly" for the score.

You are correct, sound effects were VERY minimal in this edit. This came from the new 7.1 blu ray mixes and the new itunes release which replaced most of the SFX heavy cues.

The tracks that have Blu Ray Rips are:

Disc 1:

02 - "Incident at Isla Nublar" last note
06 - "Journey to the Island" for the alternate take heard from "There it is!" to as they drive away in the jeeps into the island
09 - "You've Bred Raptors" this has some ambiance but most SFX are removed.
15 - "The Trouble with Dennis" this is fully blu ray rip but I cleaned up almost all the sfx
22 - "System Ready" this is fully blu ray rip but is clean in the film so no sfx

Disc 3: (mostly the same tracks from disc 1)
02 - "[1m1] The Island Incident" for the last note
12 - "[4m2] You've Bred Raptors" again fully from blu ray rip but cleaned up pretty heavily
19 - "[8m1] The Trouble with Dennis" fully from Blu ray rip but almost completely cleaned
26 - "[11m1] System Ready" fully ripped from blu ray but almost completely clean

"GoodMusician" is my screen name, as is "BrachioInGen" in other circles.

"Resurrected" is my JP1 edit, I always called JP3 a "Complete" score edit.

Williams does a kinda cool thing when he records his scores. He often records long stretches of music in parts.

For example, the finale to ET was a revised extended opening, the main part for up until the "bike" music. The bike chase music up until they land. Then from the space ship appearing up until the finale. (If memory serves I should say)

Williams also recorded an into/outro for "The Dinosaurs" music which is the concert version of "theme from jurassic park" with the solo horn opening. That was recorded for the album.

The end credits are on the album twice, however. There is one track where it's only just the 2nd half, and then another track where it's the full cue.

I can post an album break down if you'd like :-)

An important thing to note is that the ORIGINAL Album and the iTunes album are two entirely separate mixing jobs. The original album was produced when the film was made. For the iTunes album, they went back to the newly digitized audio and remixed the entire album. Some takes are different because of this and some of the mix points are different as well as some of the small editing choices. So for all intents and purposes the iTunes and the ORIGINAL Album are two different jobs. For this reason we now have alternate takes of a few cues, portion of cues, and some clean openings/ endings we didn't have on the original album.

Also, overlaying the two, you will find a slight timing difference. This is because no two attempts to digitize analog material will yield the same playback. The digitized material matches the newly remixed Blu Ray 7.1 mixes (with obviously newly digitized material), but does not match the original album play back times or the original 5m1 mix (with the then digitized material).

Thanks this is an awesome new edit... just wanted to be sure, CD1 is not needed if you don't want to hear edits. The last CD acts like the first 1, with CD2 still having the alternates?

Exactly right. Disc 1 is just an "as heard" edit. When I first started making film score edits that's how I use to do it. Once I learned how better to format the cd (as a complete score) I stopped doing them but so many people asked about an "as head" version so I made it. The only thing on it NOT on any other set is the film take of "Journey to the Island" so unless get interests you, just use disc 2 and 3

So it was brought to my attention that people are selling my work. They are also misrepresenting MY edits as sessions and tricking people into trading for them.

I don't get money for my edits and I SHARE them freely for others to learn about them and enjoy them. I don't mind people sharing them, in fact, If I'm sharing, so can you! I think giving your friends these sets is an amazing way to spread knowledge and the love of film music and if an official printing comes along, it'll make you want it all that more...

But when it comes to my attention that MY work that I put ALL The energy and effort into to make sure it was 100% right (more than you can say about MANY labels which actually make REAL products you can buy), my labor of love... and people are tricking people with them? Posting them on EBAY? Selling them?? OTHER people are making money on them???

Watch how quickly my edits STOP GETTING POSTED.
