The fruitful working relationship between filmmaker Fran�ois Truffaut (1932–1984) and composer Georges Delerue (1925–1992) covered 23 years and 11 films, beginning with 1960's Shoot the Piano Player. Here, the London Sinfonietta, led by Hugh Wolff, performs music from that film and half a dozen others, including Jules et Jim, for the Nonesuch film series. "Many of these scores have a shimmering atmospheric quality that recalls Debussy," said the New York Times of the works in this collection, "and other effects that evoke Satie."
