Hi guys!

So I've been a fan of this store from Netherlands/Holland for a while now, since they released the official scores from Game of Thrones (season 4), The Vikings, How To Train Your Dragon 2 and so on.
Like I said, they do take requests, and if they get enough of them they releases the scores on 180gram vinyls from the best sources (think Master tapes).

They are releasing Mark Mothersbaugh's The Lego Movie next week, I think. That's pretty awesome.

I was kinda thinking that here in the forums we requests OSTs in the form of FLAC, Lossless etc - what if we took this requesting to a higher level?

For me, who has a thing for vinyl records, it would be awesome to get a hold of, say, the official score from Big Hero 6, Thomas Newman, The Avengers, Assassin's Creed 2 - I mean - the possibilities are endless here, and I think that with this community here we can step it up a bit. (especially for you vinyl lovers ;) )

I know I've seen plenty of awesome contributes here from you guys, and to that I am grateful, so I would like to hear what your opinons are on this matter.

For you who are interested, you can send a request to MusicOnVinyl here: Request a release - Music On Vinyl (http://www.musiconvinyl.com/request-release)

P.S: You can't purchase a copy directly from Movies On Vinyl, but they have a store locater here: http://www.musiconvinyl.com/store-locator

Neat find. Though I assume that they'll only take our requests seriously if we ask for stuff that's already released (i.e. no expanded/complete stuff, only OSTs). Still, nice to let us on on this. :)

If you look at their "About Us" page, it also has a FAQ, too.

How they work.
And, no, most likely will not see any complete, expanded, sessions, etc.
They work with "licensed from a wide range of record companies and artists who control their own repertoire. "

About Us: (scroll down for FAQ)
About Us - Music On Vinyl (http://www.musiconvinyl.com/about-us)

Which masters do you use?

We use the best audio available to cut our records. We receive and use different kinds of masters: analogue tapes, original metal parts, lacquers cut from analogue tapes and high res digital files 192/96khz/24 bit. Music On Vinyl does not use CD's as masters.

Limited editions. I love ‘em but I do not know where to get them. What should I do?

Limited (coloured) pressings are sold to record shops on a first come, first serve basis. The best advice we can give you is: become a regular visitor of a record store near you that sells Music On Vinyl and encourage them to keep you in mind when pre-ordering limited vinyl. And keep checking our Upcoming section on a regular basis, and sign up for our weekly newsletter.

So you should really think twice before making a request.
If you say you have, say, the Transformers sessions on 24/48, they'll eventually find out it's a pirated copy and deny you services.

Maybe that's true about the complete, expanded, sessions etc, but just think about this for a minute: If we set up a thread (or just used this one) to send coordinated requests about one (or several!)score at a time, given that enough people would want it, that could trigger a positive response from MoV.

Don't forget, it's a business.
That work with real business people.

"Supply vs. demand" doesn't really add up here if it means they might be breaking some laws/copyright infringements.

They still have to abide within the copyright laws they are given.
Even if people do speak in masses.

Unless the studio gives them the complete/expanded/sessions, there won't be any available to press to vinyl on-demand.

Realistically, look for what's available as a retail CD (from a legitimate label; not some of those shady stores that so happen to have the sessions and bootlegs on CD).

Start by looking at what's been available in HD on digital sales stores.
HDTracks, Qobuz, etc. 24/48+ material.
(even though HDTracks has a tendency to have bunk 96+ material)

I think we have a misunderstanding here, Thesparktank: Music On Vinyl has only released scores that are official (not complete, expanded etc), and what I am talking about here regarding requests are vinyl versions of official scores. They release these in co-operation with the rights holder (Varse, Sony, Watertower etc)and that's why they have a rep for having high quality releases.

I'm just giving people a heads up that if there are someone who wants a vinyl version of an official score, Music on Vinyl is (one of) your guy(s).

For those wanting a vinyl version of complete/expanded/sessions, I can't help you.

:erm: Sounded like you were going in a different direction when you continued on the first sentence there in your last post.

I would have made a new paragraph for the "think" part instead of attaching to the first half of that sentence.

I'm not sure what you mean? English isn't my first language, and I believed that we were speaking on two different ways on the same subject. Just wanted to clarify that I was speaking about official scores first and foremost, not complete scores..

Alrighty, then.

Maybe I'll use this thread to announce new scores on vinyl from MoV, and I'll start off by saying that The Lego Movie is now for sale in two versions: yellow and red vinyls.

ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK - THE LEGO MOVIE - Music On Vinyl (http://www.musiconvinyl.com/news/original-soundtrack-the-lego-movie)

And don't forget that you can send vinyl requests to Music on Vinyl for scores, that have been released officially, at the link in the first post.
