Um, well I found out just on observation. I guess I'm way more into the show than I thought I was...oh well. Uploading to SendSpace right now, since MEGA hasn't been working properly all day. Plus, this came with a digital booklet, but I can't open it...I've been noticing this a lot with iTunes' digital booklets.

I don't believe so, this was a response to fans asking Neely for this, and WaterTower delivered, even with bonus tracks from Flash's and Arrow's Episode 9. But, hopefully in the future, La-La Land will release this. It would be nice, and an instant purchase for myself.

Yeah, thanks. Kinda surprised to see this, too (too bad I can hear compression artifacts...).

Pardon me for the partial hijack but, would anyone be interested in episode rips of The Flash music? I just did the first episode and I ended up with about 40 minutes of music! I searched to see if there was anything done already (since I haven't seen anything about a potential official [fuller] release yet) and stumbled upon this. It's from a lossy source and with SFX but it's good enough for me. At least until there's a more expanded official release (hopefully).

Really old lossy codecs had different encoding settings. Often applying a filter on higher frequencies.
Newer codecs, especially ones more advanced like AAC, can retain as much as possible more than old MP3 encodes from 10 years ago.

Even today's latest LAME MP3 encoder should be able to do that.
I think for both VBR-0 and CBR-320 don't apply a filter.

You can see some filtering on the noise in the background.
Plus you can see one teeny, tiny, little artefact in the spectrum.

Here. First image is the FLAC version. Audio data is identical, but no filtering or artefacting like the iTunes version.
Hover the mouse over to see the AAC/M4A/iTunes version. You can see the drastic differences.

They're the same, but iTunes just mastered it so well that most of the original audio data (that you wanted to listen to) is retained.
AAC isn't called "Advanced Audio Coding" for nothing. ;)

You can probably get nearly the same results with latest MP3 LAME encoder.
Only if you use updated, well-developed software (dBpoweramp, Foobar2000, a FEW open-source projects; most closed-source projects don't care to update and often have "pro" versions and are just pure garbage, check some threads on what people are using for lossless to lossy conversions and you'll see a lot of no-named software, which are often the ones that use anceint builds of LAME).

These builds of LAME encoder are updated to most recent stable versions. They don't usually post pre-releases or alpha/beta versions.
And, often build with Intel Compilers (ICL) and should work faster on most PC's.
You could always try HydrogenAudio forums for GCC compiled versions which are much faster than ICL builds.

AAC, though. That beast is well developed by Apple.
It's literally the only thing I can compliment about them.
Their AAC codec is just pure brilliance.

I recommend to check Blake Neely's work on The Mentalist, it has everything you can expect from him ;D

Hey Lockdown, strangely enough, most of these tracks have minor encoding errors, which makes many Lossless audio checkers software to think they are not truly lossless audio files. How was the process you made to create these lossless files?


I bought flac from Amoeba.com

Just went back a few pages and saw the confirmation from TheSparktank™ they are legit, I also run these files on specialized software and the minor error encoding are actually edits, probably made by the studio to remove artifacts and what not. Much like it's done with opera CD releases.

I purchased the lossless files from Amoeba.com, but this upload is kind of irrelevant because you could just download the CD rips of Arrow Season 3 and The Flash Season 1. Disc 2 contains this, and much more, I think that it is the complete scores to these two episodes.

Maybe Another Reason the New Parter Has Not Had One.
