It does have the shorter/theatrical versions of the SE extended tracks like Beyond Sorrow and Grief, Ironfoot, To the Death...etc And of course, missing the bonus tracks.. lol

Yesterday as I was researching the Hobbit soundtracks, I discovered that there are indeed many differences between the standard and deluxe edition contents, so I thought I'd upload flac versions for anyone who wanted them. Imagine my surprise this morning when I finished Hobbit 1 and found that it had already been done here in this new thread. Since this has taken hours to upload (and that's only Hobbit 1), I figure I'll add the links here in case anyone needs an alternate Mega file. No pw, ripped from my own disks, using CDex and Audacity.

Thanks for sharing The Hobbit part 3 Standard Edition. After listening I will buy the Deluxe Edition, which is the only edition on iTunes of both part 2 & 3. Why only AUE was released standard in my country I have no idea. I actually prefer the Standard Editions of these soundtracks.

I hope they're useful. Thank you for this thread and all your work, which will be invaluable for anyone who might want to collate the contents of the 12 (so far) Hobbit disks into a more definitive version of the soundtracks, as written or as heard. I suppose it will be a few more years before 3 or 4 disk "complete" editions are released, and then the fun will begin all over again.

A surprising note:
I've done some quick comparison listening between these and the Deluxe editions also available on this site, and the difference in tone is gobsmacking. These seem much warmer, and fuller in sound. Can that really be due to the rips?

If anyone feels inclined to help me out with some knowledge, I'd be grateful:
Does a rip capture the raw digital data, as I assumed it would, or is it processed first by the audio circuitry in the system it's ripped on, before it's encoded?
