This was my first gamerip, and so I probably made a slew of awful decisions making it. Any constructive criticism would be appreciated.

I made the OSV section of this album primarily using Foobar2000 and its DUMB Module Decoder component. In general, ambient, action, and conversation tracks are looped twice, then fade out for 10 seconds. Death, cutscene, menu, and outro tracks usually aren't looped since they have defined endings, though there are exceptions on both sides. Club action tracks are faded for only 5 seconds since (1) a single loop is under 10 seconds and (2) they're so bad you'll thank me for shortening them.

And now, on to the thanks. I need to thank Zodiacmaster, first of all. Although I ripped the game myself, I found myself constantly referencing Zodiacmaster's rip (Thread 111423) to identify tracks. Without that, I might have actually had to play the game, and what a burden that would have been. Next I thank the developers of DUMB and Foobar2000, and kode54 who put the two together. I couldn't have asked for more than software that can play DX1's music in its native format, loop and fade it automatically, and then save it to FLAC or MP3. There are tons of more obvious people to thank -- the composers themselves to name a few -- and they all have my gratitude.

A final note: there are a few tracks I wasn't able to find in lossless quality. I would appreciate any help finding these or the mythical track Target Acquired by Reeves Gabrels, which was featured in a certain trailer (http://youtu.be/ZpEoLH0cUSw), and was supposedly released online some years ago.

Both links are for the FLAC version. I don't see one for MP3 =0

At this current point in time, I have 3 versions of the original Deus Ex. I'm gonna download the FLAC and try my level best to make a complete, definitive edition of the soundtrack. Too many rips, something sounds different here and there. ESPECIALLY the Main Menu music.

Thanks for this! Although any chance of fixing the MP3 link?

MP3 fixed! Weird though, I'm sure I checked to make sure they were both right.

What do you mean sounds different? Unless you just mean the menu music, then I get it, but I did include all three versions.

Here's what I have...
1. Deus Ex Original Soundtrack that came with the GOTY version of the game (with alternate mixes not featured in the game)
2. Deus Ex Expanded Soundtrack (40 tracks MP3 someone uploaded saying that the tracks were not damaged in any way)
3. Deus Ex Complete Soundtrack (110 tracks, possibly lossy FLAC with more content that rip #2)
3. Deux Ex [Original Sound Version & Remixes]: your rip, possibly better than #3, even though I'm yet to compare... and some tracks were in MP3 even though I thought it was FLAC. Does that mean, that the music in-game was actually lossless?

As far as I can tell, the only tracks that were intentionally different on the Game of the Year Soundtrack were the Main Title and Ending 1. Main Title is a complete reworking of the in-game version with different synths and a longer ending. It sounds more orchestral, but unlike the PS2 version, it doesn't have a live orchestra. Ending 1 on the soundtrack mysteriously lacks a melody from the in-game version which plays from 0:16-0:28. I have both of these in the bonus section of disc 4.

The expanded soundtrack is 41 tracks (http://vgmdb.net/album/41750). Are you missing one? As far as I know, the first 30 are identical to their GOTY counterparts, though they might not have the errors that were introduced when the CDs were printed. The remaining 11 tracks, however, mostly cut off abruptly instead of fading. Combined with the fact they're in 160 kbps MP3, this makes them pointless compared to my rip.

As for whether the in-game music was lossless, it was. However, the music still sounds low quality because the sampling rate of the samples was very low. 8kHz would not be unusual.
