I have sometimes seen people on eBay and such places selling video of stuff recorded from games. I don't have any interest in doing this, but it might be nice to at least be able to tape it, as it could really help me out with capturing credits and script information and such. Unfortunately, I don't have any idea how to do this. Do you have buy some special cable to hook your console up to your recorder? How does this work?

there's quite a few ways to do it. I'd suggest checking out a hardware forum (forums.anandtech.com) and asking for specific advice depending on what sort of budget you're on.

however, if you're just trying to capture FMVs, those can usually be extracted directly from the DVDs, assuming you have a DVD drive

happy birthday btw

Well, usually one would tape it on VHS tape (hook the console to your VCR and the VCR to the TV if you want to see what is going on). Then they would hook the VCR to the computer (there are different things to do this, most would use a TV Tuner Card that allows them to take in video signals from A/V Cables). At that point.. either put the raw footage on DVD or compress it so it can be conviently be watched at any time.

But like Ender says... many ways.... many many ways.

Okay, thanks everyone, and thanks Sarah for the birthday wishes. My personal budget isn't that high, but I'll check out that site and try out some of the tips.
