Note: I almost didn't want to do this but persistence pervailed.

For this release, I utilized the sessions versus the OST so I can't say with any certainty that this is truly complete or not but it is a nice expansion once you get over the noisy hiss that dominates several tracks.

The sessions contained many different versions of certain cues (original, revised, CD mix, etc) but I played through them all to get a feel for how I wanted those cues to sound towards the overall flow. On some cues, I mix things up a bit by mixing original versions with revised versions, etc.

For the 3rd part of the track "Sky Battle", I liked the solo soprano version over the others so I included that.

For the track "Landing at the Burroughs", I mixed the original version and the revised version as the original version contained material that wasn't in the revised version.

For the tracks "Twister" and "Vision", I mixed 2 of the 4 alternates together because it sounded more complete that way.

For the source cue "Silent Night", I included the humming version as the intro and the sung version following that. Whether that's how it's supposed to be, I don't care. It sounded better that way to my ears.

The cues "Ron Leaves" and "My Love is Always Here" were a bit tricky and in the end, they both sound pretty good to me.

To help improve flow, I mixed some of the smaller cues into longer ones although there weren't too many opportunities for that on this release.

I know I missed a huge opportunity by not including all alternates and album versions but may re-consider re-visiting them later. Don't get excited about it happening anytime fast. You know how slow I can be sometimes.

The project wasn't as difficult as I expected and something tells me that I'm not even close to done with this but this is a pretty good start. If you have any editorial comments, please feel free to leave them below.

Enjoy!

Being called Harry Potter my whole way through high school, working on these scores takes me back and it's satisfying.

Hope everything is sounding good to you, guys and gals. Pt. 2 won't be nearly as difficult thankfully.

You did a great job with Goblet of Fire. The Harry Potter sessions are kind of a mess for me, with so many alternates, different takes, and various edits. Your editions make for a far more satisfying listening experience, so thank you. The only request I have for Part 2 is that you not refer to Voldemort as "Voldy" on any of the track titles, like the sessions do. Yeesh.

Thank you! Sometimes this sessions have so huge amount of tracks that are difficult to hear at once, so this kind of versions are very welcome.

Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 I will finish tomorrow morning and upload later in the afternoon. There were only a couple of different takes for certain cues in that score (that I made wise choices on in my selection) and the only things that need to be done are leveling and improving flow. If SonicAdventure wants to help on the leveling, that'd be great. His work on King Kong floors me. The experience in version 2.0 of his deluxe edition is amazing and is definitely the one to get, unless you don't like the tracks fading into each other like they do then version 1.0 should be good enough for you. Also, if you noticed that he swapped the intended order of the 2 session tracks that comprise "Gorilla on the Loose" then you will pleased to know that it's been corrected and sounds awesome in version 2.0. I think he would be a great help in cleaning up these 2 scores' sound. He might know what to do with the hiss better than I would without destroying the sound.

Instead of posting Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 today, I will be re-posting a new deluxe edition version of King Kong. Modeled after SonicAdventure's version 2.0, I made minor tweaks and pacing adjustments that previously hindered my full enjoyment of the material. I kept most of SonicAdventure's crossfades while replacing some of them with fade-outs from the FLAC sessions. Some tracks didn't fade so well into each other in iTunes, VLC or on my iPad so adjustments were necessary. Further details later.

Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 won't be much different from the sessions; the only things that will be missing will be alternate takes. I'll have that up ASAP.

Did you end up cleaning this up at all, audio-wise? I know it was something you wanted to do.

SonicAdventure has been a little busy so as far as cleaning it up, no unfortunately not. Pt. 2 will take a little longer to post largely due to my time but also because the source isn't the best, audio-wise. It sounds compressed compared to Pt. 1 which was just noisy so finding a good sound for it is going to take some time. I thank you for your patience in advance. :)

Oh, I think it will take months before I start working on Deathly Hallows. I also need to assess the material for Part II to find a workflow that will allow me to improve sound quality issues caused by transcoding.

Just found this. Thanks for the share and effort. These deluxe editions that you and Sonic do are usually worth the wait. You distill the sessions down well. As much as I love session leaks, they can be a chore to wade through at times.

Hopefully part 2 is not too long coming.
