Hi,
I hope I'm not out of line in sharing this.
Even though it is a documentary film and not a music download, this forum seem to be THE audience for it.

Enjoy an educational, entertaining. and nostalgic overview of the Golden Age of Hollywood film music of the 1930s and 1940s, narrated and hosted by John Mauceri, conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Explore the music behind such classics as Gone with the Wind, Laura, Bride of Frankenstein, Casablanca, Adventures of Robin Hood, The Song of Bernadette, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Johnny Belinda, How Green Was My Valley, and Red River. Meet the masters of Hollywood film music, from transplanted European composers Max Steiner (Gone with the Wind), Franz Waxman (Bride of Frankenstein), and Erich Korngold (The Adventures of Robin Hood), to Russian film music icon Dimitri Tiomkin (Lost Horizon, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Its a Wonderful Life, and later High Noon, Giant, The Alamo) to American composers like Alfred Newman (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) and David Raksin, who shares personal insights into the craft of film scoring in his composing of the famous theme of Laura. Discover such interesting facts as how Korngold imbued his Robin Hood score with anti-Nazi protest, and how the father of film music Max Steiner (Gone with the Wind, King Kong, Casablanca), studied with Brahms, Mahler, and Ravel. A fascinating time capsule of Hollywood music and movie history, which would make an excellent survey for a music or film class, along with the companion DVDs below. 85 min.

Music For The Movies: The Hollywood Sound (1995) is part of an exciting 4-DVD documentary series chronicling the influence music has had on the making of movies. The series explores the complex relationship between image and music in cinema, taking audiences behind the scenes, onto the sound stages and mixing rooms, to bring the story of movie music to life.

Really interesting stuff. Thanks, Umiliani. Does anyone have by chance this re-recording of Laura score by David Raksin?

---------- Post added at 05:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:04 PM ----------

And what's the music that starts at 1:46?

@ ygmmasta
I don't think Mauceri re-recorded the entire score. If I'm mistaken, I'd love to hear it myself .

The cue at 1:46 is "The Portrait" from "Laura" .

As a follow up: around 16:30 Raksin mentions two songs and their composer: Erno Rapee's 'Charmaine' and 'Diana'.

Here they are in reference to the above documentary:
