SUMMARY:
While fishing with his father five years ago, the course of young Tsuwabuki Daiya's life was changed forever. On that fateful day, Daiya's father vanished, but Daiya miraculously returned home, telling a story of the mysterious group of people who saved him from a sudden attack of terrifying giant monsters. Today, Daiya maintains that the monsters that attacked them that day were real, and that his father remains alive but missing, despite the dismissal of his story by nearly everyone as the mere creation of a young child's over-active imagination.

However, when giant monsters abruptly appear and begin to attack the city, Daiya's story begins to seem less far-fetched. Recognizing these monsters, Daiya springs into action, hoping to seize the opportunity to rescue his missing father. With the help of the surprisingly familiar crew of the Great Sky Dragon Daiku Maryu, Daiya becomes the pilot of the powerful super robot, Gaiking, saving the city and his friends. But Daiya's challenges are far from over, as he embarks on dangerous mission with his new allies to stop the denizens of the Underground World of Darius from conquering Earth, while continuing to search for his long-lost father.
