ABOUT THE DC REMASTERED SERIES
The DC Remastered Series is a series of scores that have been personally remastered by me. This is the culmination of many months of research to find an audio restoration process to help decrease the dynamic range of the music by making the quiet parts louder without making the louder parts even louder.

Some people will disagree with my technique but I find the listening experience to be better since I can now hear the nuances of the orchestra to a greater degree. I watch the spectral frequency display while listening to each track in hopes to clean up all artifacts and remove as much hiss as possible. I've also EQed everything to add clarity to the music.

I can go on and on about process, but in the end, it is the final product that counts.

If people are interested, I will continue to post more remastered scores from my collection. I only remaster scores from original CD or true lossless files. For now, I plan on only delivering the Remastered Series in MP3 V0, which is the highest quality mp3 you can output.

In no way is this series trying to compete with other members that do great work remastering scores (ex. SonicAdventure and others...). I simply want to share my love of film scores with others that enjoy not only the music, but the experience of listening to the music.

Hope you all enjoy and any feedback is appreciated.

Would members of the forum be more interested in my "remasters" in FLAC 24-bit/48kHz (ripped from 16-bit/44kHz source) or MP3 V0 format? Working on some new scores and wanted to know what would really please the masses. Hope to hear as many opinions as possible!

The masses are just pleased to have a fine member such as yourself sharing. Though I am not grabbing it, I will take the time to say thank you for sharing with us. :)

Your sort of remastering (appreciated by the way - always great to have fan releases like this) seems best suited to alfresco headphones listening, so I would personally say V0 MP3 is perfect - a way to bring this music to life on the go rather than an archival collection or disc image which FLAC would be better for.

I was about to say something similar...I listened to dconline's 'Glory' in the car on the drive home last night and was able to appreciate it more. The quiet parts are hard to define when playing the original release in this environment. Thanks once again :)

Thanks for that. Maybe what I can do is deliver both versions and have 2 separate links for whichever format someone wants to download the score in. I've read so many people bash others when it comes to having an MP3 version rather than a FLAC, for example. Though it is true it is dead simple to convert FLAC to MP3, if I deliver a MP3 V0 format (highest MP3 quality), then I get rid of all the guess work for some people.

To be honest, this exactly why I am doing these restorations since when I listen to scores or classical music in my car, there is too much dynamic range in symphonic music that the car is the worst environment to listen to my favorite music. So by doing this, I have greatly enjoyed more music in my car than before, instead of listening to crappy music on the radio!

Thanks a lot! I'm enjoying this score way more with the restoration and "remastering" I applied to it. More to come in 2015 once I get my head out of all this work I have to do.

Thanks for taking the time to listen. More to come in 2015. I might even take requests if people are willing to share a score they love and offer me a lossless version to remaster! That would be challenging but fun. Thinking about it...

You should absolutely post this in FLAC or some lossless equivalent. I would love to compare your release with the original. I prefer tracks that run together to be one track which I can see you've done, kudos. Cause if your release is better I will definitely replace mine. Also have you considered fixing up the tracks from the Burton/Elfman Anniversary Box?

I've decided that I will post future restored (remastered) projects in FLAC since most people here gravitate to lossless (can't blame them at all).

I hate tracks on CD that are indexed to show a new track yet the music is continuous so I do my absolute best to put them together for a more enjoyable listening experience, that way the track doesn't abruptly switch to another track if I am in shuffle mode in my player.

I thought of working on the Elfman/Burton box set but I only have the MP3 version of this and I promised myself I would never work off lossy files for restoring (if anyone offered me the lossless version I would certainly start working on that... hint hint). If I had the lossless version of Edward Scissorhands from the box set in lossless quality, I would redo my restoration with that album and post here.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Always appreciated.

I like the idea of this restoration.
When i'm working in front the PC I usually hear music, but it's annoying that kind of soundtracks with parts very low and parts very high..... i know that this works on film, when you watch it.... but no when you try to listen to the score doing another thing.

I use XMPlay as a music-player, wich has a Dynamic "auto-volume", but it's not always a good solution.

So this is an interesting option, and... FLAC is the colour.
