Here's a "you know you like Tifa too much when..." list I found on a webpage.

Most of these so crazy, even I wouldn't do half of them! Have a look:

I buy every Tifa merchandise piece I can find. I have her action figure, her Coca Cola figures, her UFO catcher doll, her #2 statue, and I wanna get her Wall Scroll. But I would never do any of the Aerith bashing things though, such as beating someone up in a pink dress(that's on the list). That's going too far for me.

No, because I don't own that site. The original owner of the list was the site called "Ruby Eyes" but she stopped that site because of other stuff.

The things I did on that list are such as:

Letting Tifa do the Battle Square
Always letting her ride the Chocobos in the race
Buying every Tifa merchandise I can find
Being her for Halloween every year and other occassions
Having fun flamming Anti-Tifa sites.

Bleh, I don't think you need all those things to be a hardcore Final Fantasy VII fan. I know I'm one but I don't have anything like that because I can't afford it. I can barely afford to feed myself right now. Janitors don't get paid very much... Especially the ones that are in college. :'-(

You know you like Tifa too much when you start a genetic research program in order to engineer a Tifa or two for yourself.
...When you think you see a shameless ripoff of Tifa in EVERY game you play, and refuse to play it simply because you will not be bought in by the cheapness of the Tifa doppelganger.
...whenever you find a white tanktop or borwn miniskirt, you exclaim, "TIFA WAS HERE!"

I'm am guilty of none of those.

For the love of God... I've got one thing to say. Martial arts are used ONLY for selfdefense. And not for beating people up just because you can fight better than them.

By the way, I like Tifa a lot, or maybe I even like her more than Aeris because Aeris is Cloud's girl. But then again, both of them fit nice with Cloud.

technically once you've learned a martial art its up to you too decide what to do with it, if you wanted theres nothing to stop you (except the law and your own sense of right and wrong) from beating every Tom, Dick, Harry, Lucy, Jane or Louise to a pulp.

You can't beat up people just because you don't like them. I know a lot of people who I don't like, but I don't beat them up, unless they threaten me, of course.

If you have learned a martial art properly, then you will know that you can't use it just to beat people up as you wish. Martial arts teach us that through selfdevelopment. People who train martial arts are superrior to people who don't train it (in terms of combat, of course), and they shouldn't use their strength to beat them up, just for defense. If I saw someone abusing martial arts, I would beat the living crap out of him. I wouldn't allow anyone to abuse martial arts in my presence. I wouldn't stand for that. Ever.

That is not necessarily true. It depends entirely on the 'art'.

Now Japanese Martial arts have no such 'moral qualms' about fighting despite what mister Miyagi says... Their martial arts were designed with Honorable Attack in mind.

With the Chinese Martial Arts or 'Kung Fu', there are two paths. One is like you described. This is "Do" which roughly translates as 'The Way of' which is related to the Bhudist Teachings. In 'Do' you master martial arts as a way of reaching spiritual enlightenment. It is only used in combat as a defense. It includes a lot more fluid and acrobatic movements and dance. Examples: Judo, and Tai Kwan Do. The other path is known as 'Jitsu' which roughly translates to 'Deadly Art'. Jitsu is designed to quickly incapacitate your foe. Jitsu moves emphasize Speed and Strength. Jitsu practitioners develop advanced breathing techniques known as 'Chi' to force their bodies to move faster and strike harder. This kind of Martial arts is taught to the chinese military. Example: Jujitsu (Which Chuck Norris was a world champ of by the way), and Ninjitsu.

Mister Miyagi's martial arts came from China actually (as explained in the second movie), so what he says is accurate.

Anyway, there is no obligation attached to martial arts in general that says how you can and can't use it. Those principles are defined by the one who teaches you. If your instructor wishes for you to use your skills a certain way, then I believe a type of contract is formed when you begin learning. I also believe that unwritten contract is flexible - and perhaps even dismissable - if you pay to learn a martial art.

You shouldn't have bothered typing all this because I know this. It is just my opinion that martial arts shouldn't be used for beating people up. And Chuck Norris was the world best Karate fighter six times. And you spell it Taekwondo, not Tai Kwan Do. No offense intended, of course. ^_^

Yes, you are quite right. There is no obligation, but your Sensei should teach you to use your knowledge to help others. I can't imagine a master of martial arts say: "Beat up anyone you wish, and don't hold back" or something like that. Teachers of martial arts have the responsibility not only to teach someone how to fight, but also how to use what they have learned.

Yes, that's correct. And martial arts are never for beating up others. It is only for defending yourself, or protecting the weaker onces.

If someone uses martial arts for beating up people for having fun, this person didn't get the teachings, and can never be good at his martial arts. :eye:

Who said you can't have an evil alignment and learn martial arts? I don't believe that's true.

This is correct, however. But you are truly strong only then when you accept the teachings as they are, and one of the teachings is not to beat up random people on the street. People who beat up other people for fun just because they're stronger just show signs of mental weakness and inability to accept the martial art as it is. Such people are mentaly weak beacuse

a) they cannot accept the true teachings of a martial art
b) they cannot sustain from fighting, thereby showing that they cannot control themselves, and selfcontrol is one of the most important aspects of fighting.

You know you're a Tifa fan when you color your hair brown and start training martial arts.
