I was only able to play MK2, 4 and Trilogy. And I liked MK Trilogy among these three. The characters are cool and the features too. My favorite characters are Liu Kang, Reptile, Sub Zero and Kitana!

(I miss watching the MK movies).. :(

I've played Mortal Kombat 2, 3 and Trilogy - I tried MK4 once and thought it was rather sucky :(

Trilogy was my favourite - especially because I could choose between cool-ninja-mask Sub Zero and cool-scar-face Sub Zero. AND HAVE THEM FIGHT EACH OTHER.

I've played all of them except for 5 and 6 because I got turned off after 4 and the two abominable movies. I'm going to get 6 soon though since I've heard it's great.

Trilogy was my favorite.

I only played mk4 but it caught my attention. I liked the game for implementing Weapons in the game. Very bloody fatalities, though I'm sure they were not as spectacular as mk3. BUt it can get quite One-ided sometimes. Like the fact that you can use the moves to pin the opponent against the wall and beat him, getting a flawless victory......:-(

2, 3 and Trilogy were the only MK's worth of playing. 4 and DA were crap.

Are you counting out the original? Come on! Back when it first came out, it was practically revolutionary. I hate to think how many quarters I lost to that game.

What made MK1 so successful was it's controversy, because it was "real" people fighting (as in frames of photos) and ripping off heads, making big bloody trails, etc. It wasn't revolutionary in any way, shape, or form. If it was, they'd still be using the photography frame thing on the next-gen consoles.

Come to think of it, you've got me on that one. I gotta confess that I kinda look at older games through rose-colored glasses.

Still, it was hella fun at the time.

I really didn't like Mortal Kombat when it first came out.

The only time I liked Mortal Kombat was when I had never played it.

And didn't Pit Fighter have the digitized people first?

i played a lot but didnt really care much for them. for one thing, the finishing moves were too hard to do. i was more of a street-fighter-chun-li-kick-your-ass kinda gal, myself.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was the best I played. Never played 2 or anything past 4 though, because really it's a tired series.

Trilogy was the best hands down for one reason: Johnny Cage.
