Weakest of the three films. Underperformed at the box office and deservedly so.

Well the fact that it leaked 3 weeks ago definitely did not help it

True, but the U.S. isn't even in the top ten countries that pirate video. (Top three, Russia, China and wait for it, Italy.). So the leaked copy really shouldn't have affected US box office. (Didn't hurt Wolverine: Origins. Made a ton but didn't deserve it.)

I think Ex:3 tanked because two & three went for PG 13 instead of the R of the first. Stallone's Rambo clearly found an audience which wanted a violent film that earned its R with lots of blood and bullets. Ex:1 went after that audience and earned 34 million its opening weekend. But two and three neglected that audience and the box office reflected that: 28 million for Ex: 2 and 16 million for Ex: 3.

Moral of the story: You should always dance with the one who brought you to the dance.

The Expendables 2 was also rated R. This one is the first one with a PG 13 rating, which wouldn't even bother me that much if the movie was any good but it was terrible! Mel Gibson was a great villain though!

Again true but originally Ex: 2 was going to be released as PG-13. However when fans learned of the change they voiced their displeasure and the film was recut with cgi blood added in. The second didn't open as well as the first and for the third it looks like the fans of the hardcore action stayed home.

You're right, CGI blood is the worst! I wish I did stay home! I don't think we'll ever see an Expendables 4. Now at least I can look forward to a new R Rated Rambo, which seems to be Sly's next Project!
