Who is more useful?

Garnet, Eiko or Vivi?

Unfair question. I'd definitely say Garnet is more useful than Eiko, but that's only because they have mostly the same abilities. Vivi has completely different uses, so I don't compare him to the others.

Alright, lets make it Garnet, Eiko and Vivi then.

Garnet, as I remember, was slightly more durable, and had more magic I actually used, though that may have been mostly due to the fact that she was in my party longer than Eiko.

I liked Garnet and Eiko. Healing and great offensive magic! Summoning is brute force in magic form :D!

I love Vivi, but summoning was always my favorite and healings always useful. I could never have a party without a healer ;)!

Well I both Vivi and Garnet. Thats wht I had them both in my party. Although I attacked more often then defend You always need a white mage.

Well Im on disc 2 at the moment but i like using vivi one coz his magic is quite powerful. And two he is just sooo adorable!!!

I really cant say who the most useful among the three is, cos like what i said, they all have their own functions. But since Garnet is the character i used the longest, she's become my best party mage. But that doesnt mean Vivi and Eiko arent useful too..

Actually, I do rather enjoy annoying newbies.

But in this case, it's just because I'm constantly looking at the new posts and you're one of a very few people online right now. Thus, the odds are good that you'll be the one I'm responding to.

The thing is, n00bs annoy me, cos their gay, and that. If they weren't gay, they wouldn't annoy me. And that.

I would say garnet she's cute and usaful with white and eidolons

eiko sucks, Ganet for white magic and vivi for black magic, depends what you want in your party

I thought Eiko had better white magic actually also couldn't she get holy and Garnet couldn't. I don't really remember.

Thus, I think you know your mistake Huntress Krystle. If you didn't do 1, 2, and 3 you wouldn't get followed by Prak, and many others. The only thing that makes you a n00b is the fact that you are new!

Vivi is the most useful.

dude, if i didn't have vivi, i would be screwed, so probably vivi, but dagger was pretty helpful against bosses who did alot of damage with their attacks a la protect and shell and cur/e/a/ga. either vivi or dagger.

Out of the three: Vivi, Eiko, and Garnet, I will have to go with Eiko being the most useful. She can cure, attack with magic (Holy), and summon. Garnet can only summon and cure while Vivi can only attack. But Vivi's magic is VERY useful to attack magically. So it's a tough think to choose because Vivi is thrown in there, and he's a totally different type of mage.

In my opinion, it goes Eiko > Vivi > Garnet. Garnet is last simply because Eiko is better in everything and Garnet's summons can't do anything Vivi's magic can't do. But that's just my opinion.

Got to be garnet her Sommons were WAY better than Eiko and Garnet's trance is far more useful than Eiko's

I agree with Huntess Krystal, because each character has its own unique abilities. A healer by itself is weak, but Vivi by himself would be, too. I like combinations, and that makes all of them useful. ;)

You guys forgot about the blue mage, Quina. S/he is pretty damn useful in the beggining of the game. With Quina, you can cast protect and shell on all your party member in just one turn. Also, s/he has "White Wind" that heals your entire party, and not to mention all kinds of status effect inducing spells and damage dealing spells. I haven't gotten all of the blue magic spells yet so I don't know how s/he compares to the other mages fully equipped and maxed out, however, throughout the game, if you could have Quina with you all the time, she would be my choice.

As far as the two White Mages go, I don't honestly know who to choose. Since both of them are female White Mages, they both, generally equip the same equipment and learn the same abilities or spells. I'd say that they're both pretty much equal, but in my honest opinion, Eiko annoys me.

Oh, and another thing, Garnet has slightly higher scores in her status abilites (ie: Strength, Evasion, ect...) Or, at least I think she does.

Every character/job has their strengths and weaknesses/advantages and disadvantages.

In this battle of the mages thread, Dru's right; they did forget Quina. I never liked the blue mage job, but still a mage.

That's true. Garnet's Strenght, Speed, and Magic could end up higher than the Vivi's and Eiko's. Evasion, Defense, etc. are based on equipment, though.

Even if Garnet has a bit better stats, she lacks useful abilities such as Full Life, Holy, etc. So I find Eiko to be more useful, since she has a better selection of abilities.

Quina is a wildcard. He should be there, but even though he seems to have a balanced selection of abilities, he is not as useful when compared to the others when it comes to certain circumstances. Vivi has better offensive magic, while Eiko/Garnet has better defensive magic. But Quina does still have some awesome abilities like Mighty Guard, Angel's Snack, and Auto-Life. Plus his Frog Drop can do 9999 each time when properly built. But still, his elemental and other magic spells suck compared to Vivi's, and Eiko has other white magic skills that Quina lacks.

It's pretty hard to compare everyone with one another. I agree with Tifa Rinoa that each character has their own strengths and weaknesses. The only two characters I think you can effectively compare agaisnt one another is Eiko and Garnet, and maybe the 4 fighters (which would be hard).

I still stand by Eiko being the most useful out of the 3 listed mages, probably more useful than Quina, but that's hard to say.

A lot of people who use Garnet over Eiko say that Eiko is annoying. That could be what you feel, but I still find Eiko to be tons more useful than Garnet in battle.

I agree with Vivi FF, Eiko is better than Garnet yet both are useful. I don't use Vivi or Garnet in my current game, although I have used them in the past. Vivi is just plain awesome and Garnet is good also. Quina I find is very useful just for variety and for Frog Drop.

Quina also deals a fairly good amount of damage for a mage, as well, putting him/her at more of an advantage in my book. ^_^ S/he also has, generally, more HP than the others, however, his/her trance sucks, in my opinion. But then again, I don't like hardly any of the trances...

I find Garnet the Most Useful, although I had both Garnet & Vivi in my party at all times (that you could).


Garnet has Summons and White Magic, she can easily Survive on her own.

So I say Garnet.

Out of Garnet, Eiko, and Vivi my order goes like this....Eiko>Vivi>Garnet..plain and simple

i think eiko is more usefull than garnet. one because i like here summons better, especially maideen and pheonix. she has the holy spell and i like her trance when all your chars have low health it is really usefull. most of the time i have stiener, freya, zidain, eiko. i like that party cause freya can cast that regen move then eiko can sommon, heal and cast holy, stiener and zidain can attack. i never really used vivi unless i had to, even though he is one of the coolest chars in the game. coolness wise vivi is the better of the three.

I Agree, Garnet Does have The Better Summons, I Actually only used One Summon through the Whole game, I mean used one Summon, Only Once, That was Bahamut, On Necron.

Eiko was pretty good also, but I ALWAYS had Garnet in my party, Eiko was at about level...20 by the end of the Game, While Garnet was at level 59. or Around there.

I still stick with Garnet.

Garnet has the better summons.

But Madeen is one of the best two summons in the game (Ark is the other), although less monsters are resistant to Holy than Shadow, so Madeen might be the better. And she's much easier to power up than any of the other summons, (not Ark, Odin, Carby).

And w/o summons, Garnet is next to useless. Eiko still has Holy, which you'd probably use more often that any summon anyways.

Well...I never used Eiko, So I missed out on Holy and Madeen, and by the end of the game, i lost to Necron and wanted to use Eiko, but she was at such a low level i had to use Bahamut...Well I won anyway!

I'd say Garnet and Vivi, I used both of them in my party together, with Flaming Amarant.

I'm re-playing, And I'm going to Level up Eiko.

I still find Garnet the most useful ^_^
