This may be a touchy subject, but I'm curious to get some feedback regarding individuals who have belonged to the forum for a long time (years in some cases) who do not contribute in the slightest. I try to share as much as I can, yet there are people who have been members for three-or-four years and have not shared one single album. You look at their profiles and if they've posted at all, it's typically asking for an album to be shared or GIMME, GIMME, GIMME for ones that have already been shared. To varying degrees they don't give likes or add to others' reputations, or do so seldomly.

I am fearful of coming across as selfish, but this type of behavior is becoming more and more annoying to me. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank you!

Nobody is forced to share anything, so, no... They are not worse than anyone else around here. There are users who want to merely leech, without giving anything in return? Their goddamn business, it's as simple as that. Of course, you're free to have whatever opinion you want about them, but keep such thoughts to yourselves, don't belittle them/treat 'em poorly "publicly".

I don't contribute... but then I don't partake in this illegal leeching or being a worthless member by not contributing to other parts of the site. My opinion on this I would think is well known.

You act like this is a new thing. There will always be those who leech and those who always share. Simple but annoying. Just as annoying as those who dont read the threads ie pm box activation. When they ask for music or wonder y they cant pm.

Annyoing but its what happens no use in letting it get you down.

Remember to, when it comes to most official releases, it is unlikely there is anything not already posted. And, well, sharing or partaking in conversation is not required. So, they are not really hurting anyone. So I figure leave them alone. :)

I don't really quantify things in this way. I try to share what may be interesting (I think) to others. Being a needy person, it matters more to me if somebody expresses appreciation for the effort, than if they have something of their own to "put out there."

I couldn't begin to match some of the work put in by some of you guys! Thanks to everybody. How's that?

I am fearful of coming across as selfish

No need to be fearful: You are selfish.

Let's just start trading music for music.
No repeats, not even in different formats or whatever.

As long as it's already been shared, no one will get anything until something completely new and different shows up.

Scorepranos can really cash in on you.

...provided you have something completely new and different that he doesn't already have.

How's that?

:notgood: Shame on you! OP made a point. You suck as a human being and a member.
You're on the Witch Hunt list!

Sorry, OP's rules.

This is the first time in my 3 years registered that I've poked my head outside FTCMD. I'm always a little surprised to remember that there are other parts of the site. So imagine my dismay on learning that I've disappointed an expectation that I never knew existed.

Can you explain why my not posting in one of "your" forums makes me less valuable to the site than your not posting in "mine"? Unless there's some way that you're making the site's operators money in a way that I'm not, I really don't get it.

Because Darth is from a time when the dl forum either did not exist or was quite a bit smaller. There was a time, before me, that the main forum was about so much more than getting illegally posted music. So, in Darth's eyes, the quality of participation on the main site has severely declined. And since he does not agree with the music sharing (pirating, be honest), the expansion of the dl section is dismaying and can be seeing as a rot destroying the main forum.

Or, he's just grumpy. 'Tis a toss-up. :awsm:

People who join this site for the sole exclusivity of downloading illegally obtained material (IE: Anime, Music, Movies and the like) and don't post in any other part of this forum are worthless parasitic pond scum. Buy the stuff legally and if it's not available (like some music tracks are), well that's just too bad. I've been a member of this site for over a decade, ironically BEFORE the download section was added I might add, and I've always supported this forum by making a active contribution by posting in other sections.

The majority of new members, who have joined in the last few years, have done so for the sole reason of the sharing of material (copyrighted or otherwise) and that sickens myself. Are you less valuable to this site? Yes as people like you rarely stick your neanderthal like faces outside of the download section, primarily to either A: Demand for your accounts to be deleted and argue when told that accounts are NOT deleted and B: To defend your illegal activities.

Ask Amanda or others here and they'll say that this view of mine has been the same ever since the download section popped it's ugly head up here. I don't post in 'your' section of the forum as I have no intention of supporting this activity. Don't like my attitude? Too fucking bad.

Pretty much. A lot of old members quit this site over the years, because of the direction it was heading... and while some new members have proven their worth (I include you in this small group of members Amanda), the main majority do not and think that they are entitled to this activity.

my take on the subject is this...

you don't contribute, you wont get shit from me. plain and simple.
you don't thank others for their contribution - the like and reps are good indicator who's truly thankful - you wont get shit from me. plain and simple

i know that some folks are pretty pissed because i ignore them and their requests.

but don't get me wrong... contribution doesn't only mean sharing music/video/pictures (e.g. album scans). if someone contributes value information on a certain subject,
then this is something that shouldn't go unnoticed.

so anyone who contributes in any way and/or shows appreciation with likes and giving rep points can always ask me to share. anyone else... fuck off!

im sort of ashamed to say i leech.
ive only contributed the nazi cd from hellsing ultimate.
however, i only leech here if i simply cant find the tune im looking for in specialized sites.
ive had to download half GB sized osts from here just to get ONE theme.
