The track most likely matching your description is "Zeon's Hollow Dignity (C-2)," (also known as ジオンの虚威 (C-2),) from the Mobile Suit Gundam Total Television Music Collection box set, Disc 1, track 10.

You should hear it towards when the Gundam faces off against the new prototype Gelgoog (Char's).

That box set is the most complete set of music from the TV series. If not that track, that is where you are still most likely to find it.

Alright. I've gone through every track ever released for the original series. The closest fit was a track called Suspense, very, very, very heavily processed.
Basically, it was either never released, (unlikely, but not impossible,) or that it comes from a different show, and was being borrowed (something Hanna Barbera, at least, did all the time,) in which case it would not appear on a Gundam album.
In any event. I got nothing.
