This 23-minute animated film, based on the famous Arabian tale, was screened in 1998 as part of the L.A. Philharmonic’s FILMharmonic Series, a series where a specially commissioned score is played live to a specially commissioned short film. The elaborate and colorful watercolors of Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano were the basis for the visuals to “1,001 Nights” and you can see excerpts of the film on youtube, such as this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmA30pod6dw
Composer David Newman was asked to write the music to the film. It's one long 23-minute track, and contains no vocals or narration. Although you might expect something romantic and exotic, Newman actually came up with something a little more experimental, even brash. I cannot vouch for the source of this recording, except the person I bought the disc from said it was handed out free at a performance.
1 track totaling 23:30 minutes.
Good stereo sound. No dialog or sfx.
Tau and EAC indicated the recording to be lossless.
Disc was ripped to FLAC using XLD.
