Surprised seeing this posted so early with the Blu-ray/DVD release not even a month ago. Thanks for sharing it. I did not have this one. Heard there are some nice unreleased cues, as the OST didn't really do it for me, I'll take a listen to this. Hopefully this didn't hurt anyone's sources. I heard about this one for a while but never traded for it.

I must admit I'm downloading this only for cue 4M8, but the score wasn't bad in the film either. Completely generic, but not bad.

I agree 4m8 is a great cue ... RIP Basil ... i have a feeling the composer of the remake was told to go in a different direction , ending up with a generic sounding score .... thanks again for posting this !!!

The cover posted here before is imo to close to the original soundtrack cover so Ive decided to make my own, and you have two alternatives (Win-Win Situation), so here they are (I would like to know what you think too :-) ):

After listening to the RoboCop complete sessions... I have to say that it's better than the original soundtrack. I had to nickname Pedro Bromfman "The Brazilian Steve Jablonsky". IMHO, I truly love the 1987 original especially with the composed work of the late Basil Poledouris. The 2014 version is a league of its own. As I look through the original soundtrack credits, I didn't realize that some of them are members of Remote Control Productions helping out Bromfman. I truly love Bromfman's homage to the late Basil in both "RoboCop Theme" and "RoboCop Theme 1987". The rest of the tracks were great... but not as groundbreaking as Steve's Transformers film soundtracks... but still fun worth listening to.

In conclusion: I give the RoboCop 2014 sessions a final B-.

I've never listened to a Jablonsky score on its own. I don't even like the movies he's done. If this RoboCop score which is completely generic and has no personality or style of its own at all sounds like music Jablonsky makes, then I know I'm not missing out on anything.

Based on the certain scores you listen to JHFan, you probably wouldn't like Steve's works to be completely honest. Although, I think he's far better than Pedro Bromfman and really am confused on why someone would ever think to compare them. I'm sorry but the score to Robocop doesn't do it for me, at all.

I'd say some 90% of scores I enjoy are not standalone listens, but music I hear within the movies themselves.

The scores I collect and listen to apart are limited to very few people, but since I've not wanted to watch any of the "Transformers" movies or other movies like it, I've not heard Jablonsky scores because I've not been into the kinds of movies he's hired to make music for. With the exception of "Iron Man" and watching the TV show "Person of Interest", I haven't heard any Ramin Djawadi scores either, again out of not being into the kinds of movies most RCP composers are hired for.

Wow - it certainly sounds like Robocop is an interesting score! It seems to be generating a response not dissimilar to Djawadi's Iron Man... I've become totally addicted to Iron Man, so maybe I should give this a listen. I haven't seen the film, though. What's it like?

I haven't seen the film, though. What's it like?

Don't go into it looking for a straight remake of the original film and you'll probably enjoy it a good deal.

It is very different while offering the occasional nod to the original (the theme shows up twice, the 'I'll buy that for a dollar" quote, a brief look at the original RoboCop design as a concept) and is actually a pretty compelling movie in its own right, almost as though they shouldn't have called it "RoboCop" because the name alone as so much baggage attached to it. I was pleasantly surprised by the differences and how it was its own unique story that didn't try to step on the original. I really wasn't expecting that at all.

Or, long story short: It was good because it was so different. Usually differences make people say "well they got that WRONG", and differences are seen as a bad thing. In this case it made the decisions that went into making it different a good thing. Sort of like Batman or Star Trek - different interpretations that aren't making the other interpretations invalid.

To be honest, I really don't remember the score all that much. I actually thought the movie was half-way decent, but found it to be horribly boring for some reason. It felt...pedestrian. I definitely thought it was only worth a rental. Perhaps I should try watching it one more time and see if it is any better a 2nd time. Anyways, I will take a listen to this since I don't remember it at all! lol

Oh yeah. RoboCop (all of them, even though 2 and 3 weren't that good) was always one of my favorite films. Hell, I went to the theatre to see the remake, and I hardly ever go to the theatre (I prefer getting it on Blu-Ray).
