True, this collection of jazz- influenced concert pieces offers some pretty established stuff -- Gershwin's ``Rhapsody in Blue,'' Stravinsky's ``Ebony Concerto,'' Milhaud's ``Creation of the World.'' But it also includes some nice oddities like Hindemith's ``Ragtime'' (built, like a Modern Jazz Quartet riff, on a Bach fugue), a section of David Raksin's score to ``The Bad and the Beautiful,'' featuring that composer's patented lonely-sax-from-the-next- room kind of sound, and especially, Gerge Antheil's crazy little 1925 ``Jazz Symphony,'' which, though it's neither jazz nor a symphony, is still a pretty cool specimen.

01. John Adams - Lollapalooza, for orchestra

02. George Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue, for piano & orchestra (orchestrated by F. Grof)

03 Leonard Bernstein - Prelude, Fugue & Riffs, for clarinet & jazz ensemble

04. Darius Milhaud - La cration du monde, ballet for orchestra, Op. 81

05. Igor Stravinsky - Ebony Concerto, for clarinet & jazz band

06. Paul Hindemith - Rag Time, for orchestra (or piano 4 hands), Op. 20

07. George Antheil - A Jazz Symphony, for piano & jazz orchestra (original version), W. 157a

08. David Raksin - The Bad and the Beautiful, film score
