People actually liked that Vagrant Story? I got that game and found it to be the worst game they ever made. It was worse then the Parasite Eve Series I thought.

Actually Parasite Eve 1 was ok, but the 2nd one was just too damn hard to control.

01-29-2002, 07:47 PM
FFX is the best game so far...BUT, FFXI will be better.

Hmmm...I don't really like most of the choices...actually I don't like any of them.

So I'm not gonna vote...heh heh heh...

I tend to prefer the older games and you only seem to have newer titles on the list. My personal favorite Square game is FFVI...guess I'm just too old for these things...

I say FF7, even though I beat FFX and know a lot about the game already.... I still say 7 surpasses X.

Yeah, sorry i didn't add the older games, but i only had 10 spaces. Anyway I voted for vagrant story, don't know why, it just gave me the most enjoyment.

If you want to vote for chrono trigger, vote for FF Chronicles. It's chrono trigger and FF5 together with FMV added in.

Final Fantasy VII re-defined the gaming world. It was a groundbreaker, and set the standard that all RPGs are judged by. VIII and IX were good games, but didn't have the same impact as VII. I haven't played X yet, as it isn't out here, but I'll probably buy a PS2 just to play it. Until I play FFX, I'm gonna stand by FFVII as the best.

Xenogears I'm not gonna bother explaining it to you ppl just play it yourselves and see for yourself why I picked it.

DL
02-07-2002, 04:08 AM
Xenogears bore me to death the two times I tried to get into it. Of course, stories in general do tend to start off slowly, picking up later, but the real problem for me early on was the horrid text speed. That, paired with the incredibly long-winded chatacers and NPCs simply made things too slow for me to put up with.

I played FFT instead, and now that I'm occupied with FFX, XG is on the waiting list again ;).

Anyways, my vote goes to Vagrant Story. I would normally choose FFVII, which I've hailed as GREATEST, MOST ULTIMATEST RPG OFF AL TIME W00T!!! for several years straight, but trying to play the game recently (a couple months ago, pre-FFT and FFX) to feed my nostalgia demon, I realized that I don't feel the same way about the game anymore.

Playing other, more diverse RPGs, as well as the effect of time on my memory/interests have made me see things differently, not just in FFVII, but rather all the RPG titles sitting around in my living room.

Vagrant Story is one of the most mature RPGs available now, if not the most, especially in terms of plot. For once, your brain is exercised during the story-telling process. In order to understand what is going on, and what exactly your purpose is takes having to put thought into things like the history of the setting locale, character motives, actions, etc.

In fact, most of the game's dimensions are similarly intricate, taking alot of effort to comprehend, and thus it came to be that VS is just one of those titles people either adore or despise.

People either praise it for its merits in character and weapon customization, and the satisfaction it brings, or shun it because reaping rewards is too time-consuming, or simply because they don't understand how.

There's the downside. Some people, sometimes with good reason don't enjoy having to spend hours doing things like customizing a single weapon to prove it useful against one specific enemy class. The up-side to this is that those who can endure, and those who enjoy find a great deal of pleasure in it, and strong incentive to replay the game over and over.

The FF series, along with other mainstream RPGs, despite their innovate aspects do not offer that level of depth.

The use of simplified middle-English dialogue and clever wording, coupled with the fact that spelling and grammatical errors in the text are non-existent, makes reading fun. (<font size="1">Yes plz, I'm a geek giv me cookie now kthx.</font>)

I'd type more, but then, I really hate typing, which makes my presence here quesitonable... =o So..yeah, i leik vagrant story and i thing taht if u dont u sux! hehe j/k lolololololololol!!111

I've always really enjoyed FF7 and FF8. I believe that square really out-did itself with these games... FFX was also nice, but IMHO FF9 Just went downhill in comparison to some of their other works

Chrono Trigger or FFVII, can't choose @_@;
I think FFVII's graphics are better, but I prefer CT's storyline to FFVII's.. So yeah, they're both really good games ^_^

FFX is TOO touching!
FF8 is TOO complex for most gamers!
FF7 is alright.
FFT is alright.
FF6 is the best i'd say.
CC is a bit ridiculous but its good
CT has no good battle themes
BB is good

So i'd say FF6, FFT & FF7

I'd Say FFX..Auron all the way!

iv beaten evey game up there and i think that final fantasy 7 is the best. it had a good way of expresing the real things in life, and it was confusing the first few times i played it, but i gt it. it had a great battle sceens, and it had the greatest storyline, unlike 8, which had the crapiest storyline. CC, and CT are good, but they could have made them longer. 9 and 10 are really good, but 7 beats them, the other ff just dont match to 7. SoM was ok, VS was really good, also with the ways of life and how people go to lengths to get imortality. Xenogears and bashino blade, just doesnt match up to it. 7 is by far the best

I must say I feel very sorry for you. You missed out on the greatest story in any game, ever. Dark Leviathan summed it up. Vagrant Story is my favourite Squaresoft game of all time., surpassing all the Final Fantasy and Chrono games.

Fate demanded that the best game had to b FF7 as well I believe it is one of the best RPG's alive. There is Sephiroth who just kicks ass and Cloud with his cool swords, the story is perfect and very deep, sometimes confusing, and the locations r beautiful especially the Ancient Capitol.

final fantasy 8-10 are a tie.
