...."The adaptation of Ibsen and Grieg PeerGynt presented on these discs was performed in 1998 on the occasion of two concerts by the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande Directed by Guillaume Tourniaire in Geneva and Lausanne. The reactions it provoked prompted the OSR to resume in 2000, at a concert given representatives of the United Nations It is in the wake of this concert recording was made.

The original idea was to do justice to music long underestimated, because out of context. This version allowshear the 26 original numbers partition Grieg in order and in conjunction with the theatrical text for which they were designed...."

The narrator is the french actor Lambert Wilson :

Lambert Wilson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lambert_Wilson)

This is an excellent and rare version. Certainly this is not the Berlin Philharmonic, but the strong reputation of the orchestra Switzerland is well established!
In addition, this suite of music was written to accompany a play a little how Lully composed for plays by Molire, that is why the first two CDs contain authentic piece adventures Peer Gynt. And the story of Peer Gynt deserves to be seen / heard / understood because all men can identify with his character.

Unfortunately, few people speak Norwegian and here we have a French / Norwegian release. However the 3rd cd is the instrumental suite if you don't feel the courage to hear the piece in these languages.

Thank you! First for sharing this with an open link, because it allowed me download it on a whim, by spontaneous curiosity.
Secondly because it's an excellent album,

The original idea was to do justice to music long underestimated, because out of context. This version allowshear the 26 original numbers partition Grieg in order and in conjunction with the theatrical text for which they were designed...."
It does that very well. It makes me glad to be French :D
Thirdly because of the quality of the upload, few people have the bravour (+ a scanner) required to scan 40 pages of booklet. And yet, the booklet can change a lot the way we listen to the music.

Is it me, or are uploaders like you, who upload rare classical albums, a... dying breed on FFS?
Wimpel69, Bob the Knob... one by one, they disappear from FFS, never to be seen again. And I feel like the departures are not "compensated" by the arrivals.
