apropos viola di gamba:did you ever watch the french movie tous les matins du monde from 1991 with gerard depardieu and his son who also played his son in the movie ?
look it up.it is a real treat for classical music fans and it is about the viola di gamba.

Speaking of french movies, the recent Michael Kohlhaas with the great actor Mads Mikelsen in it, has also a beautiful soundtrack with Viola in it. Alas it's not available nor on CD or download..
