I am not sure exactly how this game works cos I havent got it yet nor have I played an RPG online before. Do you fight other human players in the game too or just team up with other players and play "baddies"?

just wondering if anyone on there is like "famous" as in having a reputation on the game like for being the best or whatever. lol yeah pretty stupid question just wondering.

I guess I will just have to play and find out cant wait to get this :D

Well, FFXI is a massive multiplayer online RPG. Those types of games are basically centered around leveling up a character that you make and interact with other people. As of right now, there only way to "fight" other players is joining a game in FFXI called Ballista, which is pretty interesting. Though, due to the nature how the game is played, I doubt there would be 1 v 1 fights.

Since the game is centered around a community of players, you will have a reputation that is outside of the game's control. General rule is to not piss people off and play well.

Pretty much what he said. Do good, and your reputation will precede you, really.

Be an ass, and no one will want to play with you.

I'm in one of the most well-known, most organized linkshell on my server (im pretty sure our name has possibly been talked about on other servers too, but not 100% on that).

My linkshell is Foodmonsters and we are going to be the first all english-speaking LS to try Kirin (the last, hardest, and final God) on our server that I know of. We have like 2 or 3 sets of items to spawn him so we should be able to take him down once at least.

Most of the people in our shell are pretty well known on our server. Some of us try to maintain low profiles, but it's kind of hard to when you are in the single biggest high level english speaking LS on the server.

We've been talked about on english and japanese forums... you can even google the linshells name and get 2 or 3 pages. :P

So I guess we're kind of famous... or infamous.. depends on who you talk to. :E Anyone who talks shit is just jealous tho. :D

lol

Well, that must be great for you , Crayzieman.

I may not be able to take pride as much, but at least I'm part of the biggest French-speaking LS on Cerberus. Heh. lol

Well with the EU release you should be able to get more I'd think. We have a lot of european people in our shell thats why I usualy say "english speaking" because we arent all north american.

Most of the eupean players in our shell have shells with people from thier respective countries too, so they can talk and stuff. :B

Would be neat to have a huge french speaking shell tho.

I probably take more pride than most people in my shell because I'm a leader innit. :B

Yeah, it's always fun to be one of the "leaders" in it.

I'm the Expeditionary Force expert of my LS, and probably the best Paladin in it as well (according to them). It kind of makes me proud lol

I developed a very small bit of unofficial fame with newbs as I was first playing because whenever I got an extra Shell Shield drop from a monster or a scroll I already knew the spell to, I'd find some new guy (ie, someone still with the question mark next to their name) that was just getting started in a job that allowed the use of the extra item I had, and I'd give it to them and go on my merry way.

Same goes for random Protect and Cure casting on people I saw crouched and healing.

But, that's all over with now since I cancelled my content ID and quit FFXI altogether--I just simply don't have the time to play it anymore. Plus the fact that my internet connection won't let me do much more than solo levelling and such. I get more than five of any other entity (monster, player, NPC whatever) on my screen at once and I start lagging like hell. Plus the fact my graphics card was shit and just barely was able to run it.

I'm hardly known at all on Cerberus. I may chitchat with a couple regulars that hang in Windurst when i'm on, but thats about beside from doing my White Mage thing while traveling..

Although I do get a couple tells a week asking if I like Angel Sanctuary. ;)

If I have the time to do so, I also help newbies out. Kinda show them the ropes, make sure they get the proper equipment they need, and power lvl them through the first lvls.

I belong to a small Linkshell called TheMadnessNetwork. Well, I started it. :P Small close knit bunch. Not known at all, I think. But we do get a couple members. ^_~

I may not be very known yet, still I have some "fame" among players, I own a LS group and I always try to help other players in any way posible. My server is Quetzacoatl, and about the best FFXI players, it is hard to know except you talk about a simgle server, since you can't know players in other servers at least you meet them in the chat rooms of playonline.

The most well known "English speaking" linkshells of Quetzacoatl are probably Dragonstone and BoundByHonor. But my goal is to make the S.O.T.A. (SyndicateOfTheAbyss) a top LS in my server, and go around with pride.

We got a website if you are interested in watching what we got: http://www.sota-ls.tk/
