Let's be realistic....The Academy is NOT going to give Godzilla an Oscar for Best Original Score. Sure, there may be an FYC for it (as there seems to be FYCs for nearly every movie at the end of the year) and WB will campaign for it, but it's not going to win nor will it even get nominated for an Oscar.

If only the film could have been half as good. Godzilla 98' (outside of Arnold's score) was God awful in every sense of the word.

The Academy saw fit to give Star Wars a nomination and several wins. Remember, back then it was just the one oddball film. So it CAN happen, if the score is good enough (read original enough).

Now this, this is a Godzilla score in all it's purity and greatness. Amazing!

Apologies. I am appreciative for the time jaroshulk28 took in obtaining the music from Spotify and making it available to us. This however is where my thanks begins and ends. I for one am not one to suffer through a RapidShare download, no matter how bad I want said score, and I'm on a 152MB connection. Yes.... that's how terrible and out of touch that horrible service are and have become. I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole today, and I happily use many other premium services for file storage, uploads, downloads etc.

For future reference jaroshulk28 → Avoid RapidShare like the plague.

Thanks for the up! Will be perfect driving music later so will get it test then. Just got my amps/subs re-installed in my new car so gotta break it in. This is definitely bassy enough in the low end but I admit that the highs are a little clipped in places. I still don't understand why they master music that way (especially one that features a heavy dose of both brass and percussion sometimes playing together) but to be fair, all instruments come through loud proud and clear. The horns sound particularly deafening but not in a shrill way however because of how it was mastered, I can hear distortion in the high-end. The lossy encode enhances that defect so lossless will allow you to hear what I refer to a little better.

Despite all the technical stuff, this seems like it really is gonna be an enjoyable album. I'm trying to keep what I know about the film as minimal as possible so that when I go to the theatre, I won't have these expectations that the fan boys have so I won't be disappointed if I turn out to like it or not like it. Going in with a completely open mind and will hopefully walk out pleased. It's been years since I've seen or even thought of a Godzilla movie but the ones I did see had that hilariously terrible English dubbing over the Japanese actors that I suppose helped make it into the cult thing it is today. I did catch the 1998 version with Matthew Broderick and to be honest, I only watched it to hear David Arnold's score in context. On that front, the score is amazing. As for the film, I liked it but I can see where some fans would be displeased. I like how the creators sound like they're going to go Cloverfield with this one in the sense that Godzilla will not be on-screen that much but instead will be a looming presence. From what people are saying, it has the potential to be pretty amazing but I don't buy into hype so I will draw my own conclusion. I've been burned by hype before. That's how I ended up in the theatre to see Gladiator, where I felt asleep an hour and a half in. Years later, I still can't seem to finish it. I have the same problem with Game of Thrones. There are some strong qualities that can be shared with Akira Ifukube's work, definitley.
That doesn't mean all the time for every note in every second.
