Oh, you eternal optimist. So far the soundtracks for the "summer" movie season have been a mixed bag. I'm hoping that future soundtracks Godzilla, X-Men, GOTG, etc. bring the epic.

Don't forget Age of Extinction. I hope Godzilla sounds like what we hear in the TV spots with the sinister vocals

For. The. Love. Of. God. No. The last thing we need is Skrillex in Transformers. Although, he would be the better choice over Imagine Dragons. I saw that fb post on Steve's page and it gave me cancer.

Forgot about Transformers but then I stopped watching films by Michael Bay a long time ago. His films kill brain cells faster than huffing paint thinner. But Jablonsky's scores are generally very, very good and better than the movies they accompany.

As for Godzilla I think Gareth Edward is the right director for the job, if the trailers are any indication. Monsters are great but if you don't care about the people in the film then movies like that turn into Crush. Kill. Destroy. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Can't wait to see the movie! Ottman's X2 score is my second favourite X-Men score after Powell's, so I'm sure this is gonna sound great!
Also Jennifer Lawrence!

Just a heads up, there are people on facebook claiming this thing is out there. I find that a bit fishy since we've yet to see a tracklist and the release has been pushed to after the film's release, but I'm hunting anyway. If anyone gets a lead on this before I do let me know.

Amazon says the release date is now June 3rd...just a heads up, wondering if any other countries release earlier? And fear it might get delayed again...this film isn't as focused on merchandising and marketing as it could...

Yeah, I'm about at that point. I know for certain that there are hard copies as well as digital ones out there now, but it's just a day and I've had enough tech education for a few days...at least I learned alot about masking ip addresses lol.

Yes Xavier's theme is too much "time" for me :s Some tracks are good, but overall disappointing score ! Too much electronics and to much influenced by Zimmer, maybe later a complete presentation would be better...

You know, I thought I heard it in there.

It's disappointing that the entire series as a whole doesn't have one main theme. Spider-Man (Raimi Trilogy), Batman (Burton and Nolan), Superman, Bond, Star Wars, The Godfather, LotR....all these franchises (emphasis on "franchise") have a theme. X-Men seems to be a mess with Ottman being the only composer to score 2 X-Men films.

Danistheman12
05-19-2014, 01:25 AM
yeah, Ottman recently said in an interview that Fox asked the composers for X3 and First Class to use the X2 theme but they refused. Ottman was even generous enough to put a small cue of Magnetos theme from first class in the track "Time's Up" just to bring some form of continuity. Hopefully Ottman sticks around for the next one.

See, now for me, ALL of the live action X films have felt relatively generic. United was the best, but still not anything I kept.

Well said the marvin !
Thats totally true!
Finally, I can read something that goes in the same direction of what I feel is right. John Powells score is the best in the series, no doubt about it... Astounding music! its magnificent, complex, powerful, delicate, exciting, etc.
Some of the qualities we really miss in many of the superhero movies today. I cant stand why these kind of scores have to be forgotten because of the fucking, repetitive, boring, annoying and basic Remote Controls methods!!!

And yes, I agree with you, Ottmans X2 is the second best (by the way, I really loved the superb work Ottman did for Superman Returns and Astroboy)

Of course, I cannot wait to see Jennifer Lawrence almost naked and blue! ;)

donjapy
05-22-2014, 03:21 AM
With some regret I have to recognise Ive felt disappointed after I listened to this score. I really was expecting something as great, complex, powerful and bombastic like X2 by Ottman himself. Just a a couple of uninspired renditions of the great X2 main title? Thats not enough...at all!
I dont really understand why the great symphonic scores have to diminish these days (almost disappear)? And why the great symphonic composers have to submit their talents doing forgettable stuff because of the fucking current system?
Its a shame! It seems the disposable music we heard today, thanks to Mr. Zimmer and his cloning, mediocre and generic methods, will finally condemn to death all the good and transcendent stuff in Film Music? Seriously, this guy should be hanged to do so damage to the real art! It seems the mission of Remote Control Empire is to finish all the good stuff we, the true music lovers really need and enjoy!
I wonder, what would think the fathers of Film Music (Steiner, Korngold, Newman, Herrmann, Rozsa, etc) who set the spirit, the tone, the beauty and the mission of the music in films? How much of that remains?
Its supposed the music has to give the soul and life to the movies... Sadly, its hardly hearing just a tiny beat... :-(

Tried to grab a link yesterday but the forum wasn't working very well.

Plus, I like Mega links more.
Other DDL links don't work very well with IDM.
