On the CD are the famous quartets - Quartet № 1 " Kreutzer Sonata " by Leos Janacek (1923), Quartet number 2 " From the Monkey mountains" by Pavel Haas (1925) and Karol Szymanowski Quartet 2nd (1927) arranged for string orchestra by Australian composer and conductor Richard Tonetti . Complex , dramatically tense music these masterpieces , written around the same time , the style is close to expressionism . However, it is not stifling Expressionism German - viscous type practiced by the New Viennese School. This is expressionism Slavic because all of the composers connect peculiar style " overheated emotions" and nervous disharmony with folklore ( Czech , Moravian , Polish ) and impressionistic diatonic that significantly soften all the "horrors " . In terms of technology , these quartets are consistent with the spirit of the time and his virtuoso instrumentation close to Bartok quartets , which replaced the familiar intimacy orchestral fresco .
