Background-Informations:

Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge is the first solo album by Nightwish songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. The album is based on the Walt Disney graphic novel "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck", written and illustrated by Don Rosa. It was released on April 11, 2014. The first single and video, "A Lifetime of Adventure", was released on the February 5, 2014. The song features Johanna Kurkela on vocals and the video is directed by Ville Lipi�inen. Fellow Nightwish member Troy Donockley also features on the album.

I don't say this a lot when it comes to film music/trailer music. But this is one of these special cases where a composer (and not a film studio) puts his own money to hire the London orchestra and London Metro Voices choir to make his dreams come true and create his own soundtrack for a comic he loves.

So if you like it I recommend and encourage buying it like I did if we want more experiments like this in the future.

Everyone on these forums should give this a try. It is one of the most enjoyable albums I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. If your not into the vocal sections at least give the instrumental album a go. This is what music is all about and if you love scores then this should be added to your library. Great stuff!

A very, very interesting project. Via Holopainen's official facebook shop you can order the standard cd, the double cd (this one here), the vinyl version, a special edition blue vinyl version and a mailorder version which contains a poster with Don Rosa's original artwork.

IMO this has to be successful, Don Rosa is the only Disney-comic-writer who ever got an Eisner award. And these two CDs are a long deserved payoff to his talents.
