Tournemire's lusciously Romantic Third Symphony is so gorgeous that listeners would be shocked to learn that it was, until a couple of years ago, totally unknown. The music, as the title indicates, evokes the composer's experience of a trip to Russia, and particularly the impression made on him by the music of the Orthodox Church and the city of Moscow's magnificent bells. Tournemire even quotes some of the same themes found in the finale of Rachmaninoff's second suite for two pianos--a "Russian Easter" piece.

Symphony № 7 titled "Dances of Life " - a monumental and highly paradoxical work . It lasts half an hour, and is essentially a symphony and ballet and at the same time . Five-piece symphony - it's five paintings with allegorical choreography that can be evaluated and as illustrated story of human history and religion in the form of the symphony and unique "danses macabres" in a new way . Compared with earlier symphonies Tournemire in 7th noticeable notable progress in orchestration and orchestral colors , clearly influenced by the composer's last works of Richard Strauss , Debussy and Stravinsky - former romantic modernist suddenly . We have a literary symphony program that opens summaries parts: 1. Dancing primitive times 2 . Dancing Pagans 3 . Medieval Dance 4 . Bloody Dance 5 . Dancing future. The writing is quite challenging , with intricate rhythms and melodies are not always clear , for it requires listening to the mood and a modicum of patience.
