Really? Hmm, and I was so excited to listen to this (will do so as soon I have the time). Fortunately tastes differ.

For everyone interested, here is a cover in higher resolution:

Edit: I almost forgot. Thank you very much for the upload, antovolk!

This is the type of score you will appreciate more after seeing the film itself and how the score and film will probably fit perfectly together.

That's it. In addition, I personally think it's never wise to simply judge a score without having seen it connected with the visual experience - I mean that's what film music is about, it doesn't has to work as a merely melodic album, it has to mesh with the story of the film.

But there are a few cool tracks in the album.

I agree and disagree. While it's true you shouldn't judge a score without having seen the film first (don't judge a book by it's cover), there are plenty of full scores out there that stand on their own. Hell, even some videogame scores. I've never seen Frank Herbert's Children of Dune and yet it gets a weekly listening experience from me. I've never even touched Gears of War 2 let alone seen any game play, but I love that score and I listen to it all the time.

So I will remain optimistic that the score works well in the film (seeing it in IMAX next week), and I can appreciate it afterwards. But as of right now, Mychael Danna has let me down. At least he didn't disappoint with Surf's Up

I don't remember really enjoying anything from Mychael Danna in the past so I wouldn't be surprised if I hated this. Still thanks for sharing in case I like it after I see the film and want to listen to it alone.

DAKoftheOTA, save your money, see it on a standard screen. While it's not as bad as the critics would have you believe, it's nothing spectacular, either. Definitely not worth the price to see it in IMAX.
