Well, after the initial problems of getting hooked up to FFXI the long wait is over and I am now online! calling Cerberus my home!!

I have decided to be a monk, no real reason it just seemed the most exciting of the choices :B


My first experiance of the game was running around Windhurst without much of an idea where to go!!, Eventually thru some fluke I happened to run into Mogknight and he got me started on my way. I have also added him to my friend list so that if I need further help he is a couple of clicks away.

I ventured out to gain some levels as per Mogknights advice, but after beating a tiny mandagora and a bumblebee I attempted to fight a Crawler..... I died horribly!! Finally I reached Level 2! yay go me.

I didnt get much of a chance to play today but 2mara I am planning to:

Perhaps you should be aware that there is a "check" function. Use it on mobs BEFORE you fight them, so then you won't be as suprised as you were with that Crawler.

He and I are part of the same linkshell, the Warriors of the Wind - it's run by a couple of high levels, really nice people who have been mentoring us.

I'd just like to say one thing - making gil is FREAKING HARD. It took me ages to get 3k (and 2k was given to me <.<), and that all went on one freaking sword and a pair of pants.

Its a chore onto itself to make a couple gil. Beastmen don't drop a whole lot.

I usually rely on stuff I find while killing. I find that a stack of silk threads goes for 10000 gil on our server if you sell it at the auction house. It always takes a couple days to get all of em too, cuz not every single crawler drops em. Stacks of crystals are also good to sell too. Once you hit Tahrongi Canyon and get into parties, Giant Femurs and Dhalmel hides are nice as well.

Heather, where ARE you? I've been trying to find you online for ages - whenver I /tell you, you're not there :p

You'd best try the friend search function via PlayOnline.


Search for the desired character (in Heather's case, Alexiel) and enter the correct criterias.

In her case , that would be "Alexiel, Cerberus, Windurst" for name, world and nation. Then you can send a friend request and when Heather receives it, she'll send you a reply. From there on, you'll be able to know when she's on.

If you feel the need, I guess I can tell you my infos as well:

Name : Evaddaragon, World : Cerberus, Job : Paladin, Nation : Bastok

But I believe the main reason why Heather's never online when you are is quite simple, you're in Australia and she's in the United States...when you're in the morning she's in the evening and so on.

As for making gil, at lower levels Wind and Fire Crystals are usually the way to go. Also, depending on your job farming for certain items such as Silk Threads are the way to go, but what you hunt will depend on your nation, you just have to be aware of what to hunt.

Later on, there are different activities that give a lot of money, but for now stick to those.

I am getting the better of crawlers now! yes indeed. I have learnt to use the check feature lol!

I am now a lv. 8 Monk due to lack of tiem availible to me, Had another chat with MK and he taught me some useful stuff as well as a lv 40 WHM who followed me healing me for about an hour wich was nice!

I have been helping some other people in my linkshell complete there missons as they wanted a bit of help and I happened to be avalible at the same time. It was great for EXP but I am learning alot about the game from other people, also they will back me up when I come to doing th quests but I am planning to do them with Sirion when we are both lv. 10+

I have put a few stacks up for sale at the AH to try and get a bit of money together (for some reason random people dont give me money like they do Sirion) When they sell I am gonna buy some new armour and Stuff but until then my aims are as follows:

Oh, and by the way I think I get it best playing in England because I spend half the time playing with Americans and Half with people east of me!

Haha - the only person to give me money was Atreyu, and that's because she was trying to get me to join Warriors of the Wind - though I would have joined anyway ;).

Besides, 2.5 gil goes pretty quickly - the rest of my money came from being lucky with Yagudo Bead Necklaces at the AH. Why anyone would spend 300 gil on 6 of them when they could just go outside and pick them up off the initiates is beyond me.

I've got a stack of Wind Crystals on at the moment - hopefully by the time I check back they'll be sold.

Oh, and Evad - over the weekend i've had about eight hours sleep, and I was on FF11 the rest of the time, so the time difference didn't really affect me that much ;)

The reason why people buy them at the AH ? When they're rich, why would they bother when they got slaves like you hunting it for them ? ;) That simple. Richer people pay for stuff poorer and weaker people work their asses off for. It's called economy ;)

Raidenex, you need to sleep more lol It's only a game, you're not going to catch up with us in so little time anyway ;)

Ok, i've just got back from having a great session - I finally got to speak to MogKnight and Alexiel in Tell, and I finally got Level 10!

Level 10 means Scale-mail armour, so I finally ditched the Hume clothes, and if I say so myself, I look hardcore. Level-10 hardcore anyway. A really nice WHM in our linkshell, Saimon, took me to Tahrongi Canyon and Levelled me from 9 to 10 in less than an hour ^^;.

I spoke to Majinsephy in Windurst, and he's having some net trouble - but just to let you know what he's been up to, he's levelling at the moment - going from Level 9 to 10. Saimon logged off, so he didn't get the power levelling advantage ;).

He is sporting a pretty snazzy new tunic - once he levels, we're both going to take on a few missions together.

Well, that's good, you both are about ready to try to get Rank 2.

My day at school ended rather abruptly, and since I can take a few days off before going in the rush for my first major exam, I should be on most of the day today. So if you need help for a Mission to get Rank 2 and I'm not able to get a party, send me a tell. A level 53 Paladin should be more than all the help you need ;)

Net problems have severly limited my playtime, Happy I am not!

Well, lets see, Majinsephy is now a Lv.11 Monk. I have been mostly leveling in my limited time trying to get crystals to flog for money in the AH because I am poor and under dressed lol!

My main peice of advice for anyone who is planning to listen to higher level players in there linkshell is that it is not fun to go to the dunes as a level 11 MNK. A guy in our linkshell told us that it would be a good place to level and a Lv.23. So me (11, MNK) Asuron (11, MNK) and Minichronics (23, WHM) set off the journey wasnt to hard, a fair bit of goblin dodgeball was involved however as we reached the place to catch the ferry Minichronics and Asuron died and Majin survived. oh shit. Asuron was revived by another WHM but Minichronics returned to his HP and said that we should be fine the rest of the way.

The ship ride was thankfully uneventful, no pirates, there was a crazy level 65 WAR level 30 MNK onboard who was fishing up some big things! but we stayed well clear! when we arrived we thought righ a good chance to level man were we mistaken, we stupidly set our homepoint right outside where the beastmen are way way to strong for us and no one seems interested in partying with us because we are low levels.

So, as Asuron decided to log off I was all alone, my plan was to run to San D'oria and see if Saimon could pick me up but half way thru La Thiene Plains a Goblin destroyed me leaving a Lv.11 Majin with only 8EXP stuck in the dunes!

But on the brighter side of things I seem to be thru my comp problems, and I won 1k for getting to level 11 before Asuron. I beat him by 80EXP :))

I only got about 45 minutes to play yesterday, but I managed to get half-way through Level 10 (i'll catch up with you yet!)

I did manage to make about 3k in the AH though, which isn't bad for 45 minutes playtime.

Ha ha nice! I am now in Bastok for no real reason other than I needed a Mog House and that was closet! I am 1,000Exp from Lv.12 wich is good, I think I am gonna hang around the dunes till I get to level 20 and then go on the long journey to Jueno to get a Choccie liscence.

I spoke to Alexiel today, for some reason my game will not let me add anyone to friend list but I will endevour to find a way to do it thu POL.

Thats about all to report, I think my net problem is to do with the line, am gonna phone BT(phone company) pretend to be my father and bollock them!

Heh, you don't REALLY have to decide...Trust me, you want Warrior as a sub for Monk. You'll be REALLY loved if you do that.

I might have Warrior to start with and switch to Samurai when I get it. I am also gonna level up as a WHM, I will probably rarely use it but I have a couple of mates starting to play soon and I said I would help them out for there first few levels.

The other night I managed to get into a kick ass party that got me from 14 to 17 incredibly quickly, the leveling from 17 to 18 was nearly as quick, there didnt seem to be a good party in the whole of the Dune's oh well it sucks but thats life. gettign the subjob items is a pain in the arse, well the crab apron and the damselfly worm came easily but I couldnt get a Magiked skull for shit, In the end a Lv.30 from my linkshell took me to gusgen mines while he and a level 40 ran down and slaughtered a few Ghouls and got it for me ^^

So now I am in the process of leveling to 10 with my WAR so I can go back to raising my MNK to 20, thankfully Alexiel was on hand to get me from level 5 thru to level 8 while she was cooking dinner ^^. as soon as I am 20 I am gonna start the trip to Jueno to get my Chocobo liscence and then I will prob head over to Quifm.

Havent seen you around in a while Sirion, we ever gonna do these rank missions?

Sorry I haven't been online - it's been a hectic couple of weeks. Our landlord isn't renewing the lease on our house, so I've been spending my spare time organising trying to find somewhere else to live - and since my neighbours hate us, it's going to be difficult :(

By the time I get back on, I'll probably be too low level for you - not to mention that my broadband has been screwed for this month (my now ex-roommate used up by 10Gig limit in TWO DAYS - after that d/l speed is capped at 64kbps), so if there's any major updates i'll be stuffed downloading the patch.

Nah not too low to do the rank missions, you wont get much EXP tho, but it dosent really matter when doing the rank missions, I am almost level 19 but I only had 2 hours, and 1hr 15mins was going windy to selbina due to a stop in burburimu to see Saimon

Where to start.....


Well, I guess I should start with the fact once Alexiel left me to my own devices I couldnt be bnothered to level WAR past 9, lazy yes. I decided to head back to Valkrun Dunes and go on the quest for level 20. I managed to get in a party pretty quickly for once, which was nice! I managed to get almost to Lv.19 before I had to log off and sleep ( I tend to forget everything at Uni if I havent slept) I logged on the day after and quickly managed to get to 19 but I left the party because 4 people from my LS wanted me and another LS member to help them get Worms and Aprons e.t.c so after running around with those guys I skipped a planned LS meeting to get to Rank 3 and went to level in Valkrum again, I got in a good party well, I say good it was pretty slow EXP but I have been in worse (including one where I have acctually lost EXP) The party fell apart with me 400exp from level 20, happy I was not but I decided it would be easiest to solo. I just took out a few decent gobs and sand hares and got my level.

Of course as I said before most of my Linkshell were doing the planned ranking event so I had no one to give me a lift to Jeuno so I decided to go it alone, it was pretty uneventful, I got attacked by a tough gobbie but he was destroyed easily enough thanks to Hundred Fists ( I could have taken him but I didnt wanna risk dying and dlvl) There was a point where I thought I was gonna die, I was on top of the big hill by Jeuno and all around its base where Sabretooth's! how I managed to dodge round them I will never know! anyhow I made it to jeuno and set about gettign my liscence, apart from the inital set backs of firstly trying to feed the worng chocobo and the trying to feed the correct one Gyshal greens (dont ask) I set about feeding the funny yellow bird thing, after the first refusal, with a day to kill I decided to wonder aournd jeuno and see what the place had to offer, by some fluke I happened to run right in to Evaddaragon, he gave me some useful advice and also filled me in on the whole Promivyon quests (If a 54 Paladin cant do them a 20 Monk isnt going anywhere near).

So, now I have managed to find Mogknight and Evaddaragon as well as the fact Alexiel found me that leaves only Typo so beware little man I am looking out for you, I probably wont find you I have a hard job seeing tarus....too small I am starting to suspect that my little sister is really a taru but that is a different story.

Anyhow, I am now in possesion of a chocobo liscence even tho I cant spell the damn word lol. I breifly partied with Alexiel in Quifm before she had to leave, I zoned to lower Dellfukts tower and saw a cut scene with Bahamutt, which was nice but I have no decided to raise my Warrior level and also my White Mage level so I probably wont be around jeuno much for the next few days.

I have decided to call this post death because It has been happening to me alot lately X_x

Everything was going alright since my last post, I decided to do a few rank missions out of bordem, (I will still help you sirion, I know what to do now!) I succesfully got rank 2 and started that but I couldnt quite manage to get that donwe by myself and managed to secdure Evad d'aragons services! he is scary! he kills things before they even have a chance to hit him! and he has really cool shiny armour! lol, yeah thanks to him because he got me thru the Shakrami maze to find the lupis, after he departed I had to deliver the lupis to the cat womans hide out in the outer houtoroto ruins, I was thinking that this would be easy (everything is supposed to be Too Weak there) but little did I know I would be venturing into the depths to find the cave with her hideout and whilst that was found easily I also managed to find a room full of tough gobbies and beetles that link and sent Majin flying back to windy X_x

So, with my level 20 status barely intact I decided to carry on leveling WAR, this was going really well, a group of us 2 WHM, 1BLM and 2WAR where easily slaying Dhamel in tahrongi for decent exp until one of our mages had too go, its was only when she left that we realised she was the only mage that had been curing us the whole time, the other 2 were more interested in hand 2 hand combat! so me and the other WAR died, the WHM tried to blame me for this apparently I wasnt supposed to voke the dhamel 0.0! this was replied with much use of the 'f' word. I decided that I couldnt be bothered to head to valkrum so I took up being a WHM, its pretty enjoyable, I get atleast 5 party invites everytime I go into tahrongi even tho I am in a party, leveling has been bared by a few deaths (noteably 2 at level 1 X_x) and those of others, I let a couple of people die in a party.... they did pull when I had 2 MP so I didnt feel inclinded to heal them.

Last night I went to quifm with a 46WHM from my linkshell, he got me 1,300 exp in about 20 mins before he had to leave which was probably the highlight of yesterday for me I think, however another Linkshell member asked me and him to get him a Magiked skull, we decided we would head to gusgen mines, on the way I got aggro from a Poltergeist it destroyed me, eventually when we got to gusgen the party accidently got split up and lost (I would advise everyone to take a map) enter bandersnatch exit Majin. You would think that this would teach me a lesson but oh no, after get revived we headed on further down looking for skull until we reached a strange lake, there were loads of red people stading in the lake so me and Asuron (l.17 MNK) decided we would try and fish one out, after many unsuccesful attempts I managed to fish out some incredibly tough ooze that I had to run from, our WHM took care of that but was to late to take car of the bandersnatch and ghoul that awaited me and asuron as we ran for the exit...... lost 1,100 EXP today ;-;

I hate this game....... Ill be playing again by tuesday......

What has gotten into you ? Going into Gusgen Mines to help get a skull at your level ? Poor soul...

Us Paladins are good at doing that, and we dare not even try it alone before level 35+...Others don't do it alone before 40, but that's because of our ability to fight undead. Sometimes, when I'm done mining there, I bump into some newbies who want their skulls, so I end up getting it for them...happened about a dozen times. Now I easily get through multiple Ghouls, even without my armor. All I need is my trusty sword and shield ;)

Don't get discouraged because of a "few" deaths. I got killed twice myself this afternoon to get a coffer key. It will take you more than that to go all the way, don't give up.
