Rare version of Prokofiev "Peter and the Wolf" - without narrator, only music! And world premiere recording of piano cycle "Tales of an old Grandmother", op.31 arranged for orchestra by russian composer Alexander Radvelovitch. And "Carnival of the animals" by Saint-Saens. All interpreted by St Petersburg Radio & TV Symphony Orchestra, Stanislav Gorkovenko conductor. Great CD with the two main classics children love. If you want a good orchestral interpretation of Prokofiev's story and new Tales in colorful orchestration this should suit you well. Enjoy!

Thanks Legoru for your purely orchestral version of Peter and the Wolf. I had been collecting the many narrated versions (there used to be a separate thread on the Shrine but I can't find it now).

Thanks for this "karaoke" version, legoru (with all respect to musicians and music lovers). That's what came to my mind when it began to sound and I noticed the absence of the narration: one could use this album and do that role oneself for children. I even imagined puppet or shadow play at the same time, lol. Moreover, something of that kind would make a wonderful theatre number if done by children themselves in an end-of-year school festival. After all, they were the target audience of this work.

But I like it just like that; the narration is not necessary. Nice share.
