Damn! Was hoping this one to be the real deal. Somebody leak the recording sessions already. Or is it going to be a long wait like Inception and Sherlock Holmes?

It's gonna be a long, ***long*** wait from what I hear of the trading situation these days.

Of course not. These are fan-edits from the OST or DVD-rips. I can prove it, if you want.

Everyone seems to have different stories about the trading situaton regarding this one, but why someone talks about an 'expanded' score is a riddle to me. Don't Zimmer sessions tend to leak in a complete form? And I'd be highly surprised if, even IF it existed already, someone would immediately go to Pianofiles and shout about it in public. From what I've been told, any RCP sessions have to remain hidden due to events in the past, but as I said everyone tells different stories so I might be as wrong as anyone.

MY understanding is that nearly EVERY sessions leak is being guarded, and that the "circle of trust" thing has all but disappeared. Due to "unauthorized" posting of links here. Even the most mundane of leaks is being withheld.

it is fake i know someone who has it he said several of the tracks are just ost tracks renamed and used as a filler to make it look expanded the youtube links posted by goback are the ones included in the expanded set and yes zimmer scores are always leaked in complete form not expanded

I just got here, what am I getting myself into?

What are recording sessions exactly? the early stages of a music?

And why do they have to remain hidden and by whom?

Recording sessions are recordings made during the scoring sessions of the orchestra. They are not sold to the public and are not meant for the public. But many times the sessions get 'leaked" to people in the trading circles. However since it could get one fired or jailed, most trade these things very quietly and secretly only to those they trust. Sessions in their complete, complete form are all of the music for a film as written, scored and recorded by the composer.They can contain many alternate takes of the same cue, extended/full versions of cues, unused cues. They contain items termed as pick-ups and inserts....sections and edits designed to be used as editing patches or to fix small blemishes in the recording. They can run for hours more than the film. Many times this excess material is omitted and only the complete score tracks are on the release. Or some alts. It depends on the source.

Since all scores get edited after this session takes place, most of these will not contain film version edits of many cues. Editors make those changes to suit their fancy far after the initial scoring was done. So for many, these leaks are not complete in the sense that while they contain the full score as originally conceived they may not contain the full score as ultimately heard. :) Welcome! :awsm:

Keep in mind, these things are fx free. There are also ISO scores. Isolated scores. This is a feature on some dvd and blu-ray releases that allows you to watch the film with only the score on. These can be edited and ripped. But be aware the standard of labeling bootlegs such as this is lax at best. You can also rip just the audio of a movie. There are various techniques to do this that can moderate the amount of dialogue and fx heard to varying degrees. These rips are very often labelled as complete scores or sessions when they technically are not. Voices and fx can never ever be totally removed, and the process always impacts the sound of the score. some members here are very very good at coming damn close. But a lot of folks just call these fan made items whatever they want. And material gets passed around til everyone forgets what came from where, if it was even ever known. So sadly, often the only way to know for yourself is to download it and listen. This is the source of many...discussions (yea, lets call it that) amongst those wanting to more precise and those who could really care less. :D

I always buy official soundtracks as I enjoy supporting the composers. But makes me angry that so many songs/tracks present in the movie are excluded from the CD. As a collector, I came here to find complete scores for a movie. I wasnt even aware of the existence of Recording Sessions, hopefully I will be able to find a few from my favitore movies.

PS: I noticed in their specific thread, you have spider-man complete (2002 and 2004), may you please up'em?

a friend of mine gave me his breakdown of the score, and it's probably pretty accurate. i cannot say because i do not have it

1-01 Look to the Stars == Look to the Stars

1-02 Krypton Launch == chunks of Arcade which probably are an approximate match -> DNA -> Goodbye, My Son -> Ignition -> Launch
It's fair to combine all these tracks into one; they do kind of play without pause in the film and it's kind of irritating that they were all broken up for the OST

1-03 I Will Find Him / Krypton's Last == last bit of Launch -> I Will Find Him -> Krypton's Last
Same as what I said about track 1-02

1-04 Oil Rig / Young Clark Freaks == Oil Rig -> Are You Listening, Clark?

1-05 Sent Here For A Reason == Sent Here For A Reason (amplified for some reason)

1-06 Scout Ship == stuff from the Sketchbook (?) really slowed down. It might be accurate; I remember the end of the cue having a bit tracked from the near end of Terraforming and this fits the bill

1-07 Flight == I Have So Many Questions -> Flight

1-08 Tornado == Tornado

1-09 You Are Not Alone == General Zod -> some other stuff, probably DVD rip or Garage-style mutilation of existing OST material

1-10 Clark Surrenders == DVD rip? blended with OST material? I cannot vouch for this one

1-11 Dramatic Entrance == some Arcade, maybe some General Zod, some of Arcade's second half (the battle at Smallville)
If I knew the score better, I might be impressed by this track's possible likeness to what's heard in the film. As it stands now, my reasoning is just "Pfft, another fake track mixed in as filler and given a bogus name!"

1-12 Zod's Story == You Led Us Here -> a bit of DVD audio -> a bit of You Die, Or I Do -> Garage-style mutilation of existing material that I can't bare to actually listen to

1-13 Escape from Ship == This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_wL3ZhTn9E -> This: Man Of Steel - Hans Zimmer (Unreleased) - You Can Save All Of Them - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wAAnQqRq6A)

1-14 It Hurts, Doesn't It? == more Zod stuff, like the end of Arcade, and maybe a bit of DVD audio

1-15 Smallville Battle == maybe it sounds like the film, maybe it doesn't.
