Tokyopop has actually begun releasing the original Slayers novels in North America. The first one was apparently just released (possibly just about to be released), so information on it is a little hard to come by right now. I have no idea about the quality of the translation.

So is anyone actually going to buy these?

I probably am.

I'm not as big a Slayers fan as I used to be, but I still have the love.

Any chance you could link to some information about the release?

I might. My sister is the huge Slayers fan in the family, though. I merely love it.
And the final season still hasn't been released in Germany. Geez?!

Ndi, it was hard to find information on it a few days ago. That's why I didn't post any links.

Here's the official site (http://www.tokyopop.com/dbpage.php?page=product&productid=2461). It doesn't have much information. All I know for sure is that it has about 200 pages, is the first of 15 books, and was released on the 7th of this month.

I haven't been able to find any reviews that would tell me how the translation came out.

Tokiko, have you tried getting an import version of the third season yet?

Of course not.
Since no one officially said that it will never be released, which means it's only a matter of time.
And anyway, what would I want with Region 1 DVDs? Use as frisbees? (Yeah, I know, I know, don't tell me, but I just am not that keen on probably paying lots of money to get this stuff, since I don't need it THAT badly, like I couldn't live another week without it, I'm a patient girl and I can wait.)

Region 1 my ass! I'm talking about the region 0 version.

It's costs about 1/3 of the region 1's price.

I hate to double post, but...

I got the first novel yesterday and have now made it about halfway through it. The style is really interesting. It's written as a first-person narrative by Lina Inverse. The translation seems solid and well-adapted.

The only problem I have is that they're too short. The first one is only about 200 pages long. And that's including the full page manga-style illustrations every few pages.

In the end, though, it's very entertaining and (in my opinion) well worth shelling out a few bucks for.

There was:

Slayers
Slayers Next
Slayers Tri

Was there a "Slayers Again" after Tri?

Tri = Try

I don't think I ever heard of a Slayers Again being released. I do remember hearing a rumour about it, a long time ago. I guess it's kind of like Dragonball AF, or Reviving Aeris. XD

There are various OVAs and a manga adaption... which sucks compared to the anime, and a manga short story thingo series... which... I don't really know.

Thanks for the clarification Tokiko.

Btw, I read "Busou Renkin" on Shonen Jump as well ;)

Actually, you probably cannot believe how happy I am to see someone else who knows Busou Renkin. Spread the awareness, and possibly, spread the love~! ^-^

Ha, Ha, Ha!!!

It certainly has been a disappointing 2 weeks for me since the guy took TWO weeks off so no "Busou Renkin" for 2 weeks straight in Jump.

Back to Slayers, I only just thought of this. I don't want to condone piracy but I do want the final episode of Slayers Tri.

The day it was screened on TV here, there was a Typhoon approaching and the TV station cut the final credits roll to screen the Typhoon special newsflash! It's very annoying since the animations shown were a kind of an epilogue.
