So who is the Yellow King? Who are the men wearing the animal masks? Will former detective (the true detective?) Rust Cohle really kill himself? Is Errol the groundskeeper (aka the Spaghetti Monster) the mastermind or just the enforcer for the group behind the abductions?

Well, tonight we'll get some of the answers. I say some because I wouldn't be surprised, considering how True Detective is constructed that some ends will remained untied. And since the next season will feature a new set of detectives will any untied mysteries carry into the new season?

True Detective is one my favorites of the 2014 season. I didn't know what to expect when I saw the trailer other than the show looked intriguing. (I thought the same about the trailers for Low Winter Sun and The Killing and both programs were disappointments.)

TD has been a show featuring some excellent writing, direction and acting that doesn't play dumb for its audience. I can't imagine a network show would feature as relentlessly nihilistic character as Cohle much less make him the "hero" and a character much more true to himself than the obvious choice of his family man partner Marty (Harrelson.) (Marty, who presents himself, at least at first as just an average guy, is anything but. Cohle, while being the guy who can suck the oxygen out of a room in record time, is intelligent, relentless and courageous. Of course that courage might also be a death wish in disguise.)

I have no idea who the Yellow King is or isn't although I'm fairly certain it isn't Cohle or Marty. (Unless the final episode pulls off one hell of a sleight of hand.) My only wish is the show really, really, really sticks the its landing.

If you do a search within this forum I believe there is an unofficial soundtrack floating around.
