If you know about it, Metallica has made a documentary film about their recording of St. Anger.

As you surely know, Anima is an Aeon in Final Fantasy 10.

Anima came first, chronologically.

Here's a comparison photo I made of both Anima and Metallica's logo for Some Kind of Monster.

Is it me or is there a strange similarity between the two?

There's a similarity... Definately. So Final fantasy X's came out first? I've never thought about those to creatures before.

They look similar, yes, but I don't think there's any connection between them. You said Anima came first chronologically, then there's no connectioin, do you think Metallica get inspiration from FF10? No.
if Metallica monster had come out first, I would say they may be related each other.

It'd be interesting to check whether maybe both are based on something mythological.

Anyway, amusing fact.

I am too lazy to read through all that. Does that somewhere describe the outwards appearance of the two pictures?
Because if it's only about the stuff behind "Anima", I've been fmiliar with that for a while now...

I was too lazy too... I was hoping no one would ask me about it. :-[

I don't think there's any graphic description of what Anima looks like and Metallica's monster doesn't have a name.

I think it's pure coincidence, but still... it's a bit odd.

I was thinking they were both based on the same mythological creature, like Tokiko said. It would make sense, because metallica definately wouldn't have "copied" it from final fantasy.

Yeah, I don't think they'd have ripped it from Final Fantasy. Whoever designed the artwork for Metallica would probably know how popular Final Fantasy is and hopefully would think twice before copying an idea.

I think it's pure coincidence, but to me that makes it even more interesting because there's a huge similarity between the two images.
