This edition is from a bootleg pressed CD that contains the performance of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the composer, in England that was used in the finished film. This is not the Varese Sarabande LP or CD release which is a re-recording of the score made in Germany.

Eye of the Needle - Download - 4shared (http://www.4shared.com/rar/kK0eHY5Mce/Eye_of_the_Needle.html)

The quality of this recording: It is listenable, but it lacks the crispness and clarity you would fine in a release where it was mastered from a first generation quality element.

But now, lovers of this score can see the difference in instrumental performance between this film tracks recording and the album recording.

If anyone has a better sounding copy of this performance, please share.

Until then, enjoy.

Got that one. Unfortunately, the sound quality is SO poor it spoils the enjoyment of a very fine score. As much as I loathe some of the aspects of Rzsa's re-recording from Nuremberg (bottom-heavy sound, slowed tempi), it's still more enjoyable than this.

There is a little that can be done for this recording - not much, but a little - and when it sounds as bad as this, every little helps...

Some fairly intensive re-equalisation (using the Nuremberg recording as a point of comparison), a little light NR to counteract the hiss, wow and flutter removal, and a lowpass to get rid of that awful pilot noise just under 16khz.

@tangotreats:
Just listened to your remastering of track 1 Main Title/Prelude - Wow! Indeed this a great enhancement - it is like listening to a new source of the track,
much clearer and more transparent sound in the orchestra's instruments.
Maybe you could remaster all the 41 tracks of Rozsa's original RPO London recording
and upload it to this threat then?
Thanks for your great work!
Kind regards, Klaus.

This is a bootleg, which usually don't feature glossy high res full artwork (booklets), but rather mostly poor made front and back covers. These low res scans are all that are available:
